Good question! Okay, so my friend Kat told me I absolutely had to check out this new show on Adult Swim called Case Closed. One night, there was a good Inuyasha episode on, and then I saw that this Case Closed was on next, so I figured "I like mysteries. Let's check it out!" And it was the episode where the killer in bandages is stalking people out at Sonoko's villa. I think it was the scene were Ran crawls into bed with Conan 'cause she's scared and his reaction that officially hooked me.

It kind of became a nightly tradition--my friend Vixie and I would watch it in my room (it was on at midnight), while two of our guy friends would watch it over in their dorm room in a different building, and we'd all watch together via MSN Messanger. But it wasn't until later I started doing research online (because I am that big of a nerd), and found out all about Kaitou KID and Heiji (who I hadn't seen yet) and stuff. And it wasn't until after I started reading fics, like Icka's Cookies and Becky Tailweaver's Relative Truth that I realized I want to join this fandom. Big Time.

There you have it. My long-winded answer as to how I got yanked into this fandom kicking and screaming *laugh* Okay, so I wasn't kicking, and the "screams" were more "fangirl squeals."
