I had to go with Ayame tormenting some poor soul. Sort of.

For as long as Shigure could remember, Ayame had always been...well, flamboyant was the best word one could use to describe the man. He had grown his hair long, adopted his trademark booming voice and speech mannerisms, and taken to the most absurd fashion sense all before they were in middle school.

And rather than grow out of the "phase," as most of the adults suggested he would, he actually went further into those habits. He learned to sew, and began to make his own clothes--to "suit his unique and wonderful aesthetic," he actually said once.

Hatori had raised an eyebrow and asked if Ayame even knew what that meant. Ayame had replied by waving a hand, laughing merrily, and saying something bravado-ish that essentially translated to "Not necessarily, but we'll pretend!"

After graduation, all three of them settled into their newfound roles in life. Hatori went on and became a doctor. Shigure became a novelist. And Ayame opened his store. The three visited regularly, though, and Shigure in particular was a frequent visitor to Ayame's shop--not for the clothing, per se, but for the company. Ayame had found himself an assistant, Mine, and the three of them had a great deal of fun together.

One day, as Shigure was stepping outside to leave on one such visit, he found his long-suffering editor sitting there, teary-eyed and panicked. "Sensei, I need the--"

"Not today, Mit-chan," he drawled, tucking his hands into his sleeves. "I'm going to visit my cousin, and no work until I get home." Seeing that he was about to be lassoed and hauled off, he quickly added, in as cheery a tone as possible, "...why don't you come with me!"

It worked. Her tirade froze in her mouth. "...what?"

"Come with me! I don't think you've met Aya...he's quite a character. I think you'd like him," he said, already formulating a plan in the back of his mind. "A little fun won't hurt! And as soon as we get back, I'll finish the last few pages of my manuscript."

She glared at him suspiciously--not that he totally blamed her for that. "Do you promise?"

"My word of honor," he said, putting one hand over his heart.

"...okay," she agreed, still looking as though she didn't quite believe him.

Watching Ayame pounce on Mitsuru was easily one of the most amusing things Shigure had seen in ages. His editor was flustered and obviously didn't know what to make of this flamboyant man with long hair who immediately began spouting boisterous prose of welcome.

That was only the first half of the fun.

As they sat down, Mine appeared with tea, still wearing her favorite maid outfit. That brought another startled expression to the editor's face, but she swallowed hard and started to ask Ayame about his shop.

She didn't get very far, though. Suddenly, Mine was upon her. "You..." she said, getting a very predatory look on her face. "You like our outfits, don't you? You want to try something on, right?" Her eyes had taken on that frightening sparkle.

Mitsuru nearly went over the back of the couch in a panic. "W-what? I--no, I don't think I--"

That was as far as she got before she was bodily hauled from the couch and swept into the back to the tune of Mine's lilting voice. "I know just the thing! Oh, this is going to be so much fun, just wait until you try it on!"

"SEEEEEEENSEEEEEEEEEEI!!" Mitsuru's wail echoed back.

Ayame took a sip of his tea. "You knew that would happen, didn't you?" he asked in an unusually quiet voice, glancing towards the curtain through which the two women had vanished.

Shigure grinned and lifted his own drink. "I certainly hoped it would."
