Class report!

I'm in Visual Basic right now--I think I'm going to enjoy this class =D The professor who was supposed to teach it was Dr. Smith, but he was hit by a car while riding his bike. He's in the hospital with a LOT of serious injuries. I hope he recovers soon =(

So one of the professors who retired last year came in to teach our class. Dr. T...he's spastic, he's enthusiastic, he's crazy, and I think I'm going to have a good time while he's here. Kinda hope he's around for a while =P Thus far, we've discussed how his family name is an architectural masterpiece because of the patterns of the letters. We've talked about how all business problems can be solved if you get a Coke license. We've gone over what a computer is. And we've learned how they fill pop bottles with exactly 16 ounces of Mountain Dew (a paddlewheel linked to a shut-off valve! HA!)

We're discussing coding and stuff...it sort of sounds like we might be doing some basic html... *goes starry-eyed at the idea of being able to do more fun stuff online*

I'm also very excited about choir right now. We're singing "Battle Hymn of the Republic," which we sing every year. Hell, my father sang that version of Battle Hymn when he was in high school back in the highest days of ancient Egypt. But then we're singing Z. Randall Stroope's "Homeland." I sang this song twice in high school, and I worship it! If anybody wants to hear a recording of it, I have the one my high school choir did. But it's beautiful--it could be about any country or place, and it's patriotic without being cheesy.

And then...we're doing "How Can I Keep from Singing?" *melts into a little happy-puddle of Candy-goo* I can't remember the composer/arranger's name, but it's the one with the blue cover. This will mark the third time that I've sung it, and I love it more and more every time I sing it. It's sooooooo beautiful, with a great message....and I'm going to brand myself a music nerd forever with this, but the key change makes me chordgasm. BIG TIME.

I'll probably post lyrics later, just to share the fun =D

Oh, I hate West Side Story, too. xD I just can't really stand it for some reason.

Sopranos have their own bases taht altos don't even know about. :P

..Why am I always in the mocked section? Soprano, oboe. I'm screwed. xD

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you didn't have to play an entire 4 or 5 piece marching show during high school during football game's half-times and performances...urgh...

Gee, Officer Krupky just about killed me...along with America @____@;;;;

At least you're not a trumpet player!

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
America's fun to sing but I wouldn't want to play it.

That's true. xD

...I forgot to mention the time signature...it was probably around 180 or more...uwaaaaaah. D: AND MARCHING TO THAT SONG WAS HORRIBLE! WTF, Mr. Brown? D:

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You have NO idea...we nearly had it cut from the show because it was so hard to learn...;_;

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
We used to cut things all the time for that reason. xD

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I-icon love

Yeah, but we never cut anything from our shows, surprisingly *sweatdrops*

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't it great? xD

That's impressive. We rarely did but it happened.

I have to go to class in ... three minutes but hay, wanna be lj friends? :D

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
We did "America" in ours as a percussion piece. No playing involved! *mocks your pain*

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Dotdotdot...I hate you for that. XP

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
^___________________^ *grinz and pets you*

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you know the trumpet player's handshake? "Hi, I'm better than you."

Whereas the euphonium player's handshake (that's my instrument) is "Hi, I'm smarter than you." ;D

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
XDDD That's not how MY euphoniums shake hands XDDD

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...okay, all sorts of dirty things just ran through my head, including how my fellow euphonium lady and myself amuse ourselves in band by playing Hangman with the dirtiest messages we can think of. I broke Jo's brain by having the message, "I like it when boys touch boys."

Bliss ♥

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Fine, keep your bases *steals your chairs instead and laughs as you fall off the risers*

HAHA, YOU PHAIL!! *dances the Sopranos and Oboes are Losers dance*

I'm just teasing--I loves ya ^_~

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true. We do fail. xD

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww, don't take it personally *patpat*
