Class report!

I'm in Visual Basic right now--I think I'm going to enjoy this class =D The professor who was supposed to teach it was Dr. Smith, but he was hit by a car while riding his bike. He's in the hospital with a LOT of serious injuries. I hope he recovers soon =(

So one of the professors who retired last year came in to teach our class. Dr. T...he's spastic, he's enthusiastic, he's crazy, and I think I'm going to have a good time while he's here. Kinda hope he's around for a while =P Thus far, we've discussed how his family name is an architectural masterpiece because of the patterns of the letters. We've talked about how all business problems can be solved if you get a Coke license. We've gone over what a computer is. And we've learned how they fill pop bottles with exactly 16 ounces of Mountain Dew (a paddlewheel linked to a shut-off valve! HA!)

We're discussing coding and stuff...it sort of sounds like we might be doing some basic html... *goes starry-eyed at the idea of being able to do more fun stuff online*

I'm also very excited about choir right now. We're singing "Battle Hymn of the Republic," which we sing every year. Hell, my father sang that version of Battle Hymn when he was in high school back in the highest days of ancient Egypt. But then we're singing Z. Randall Stroope's "Homeland." I sang this song twice in high school, and I worship it! If anybody wants to hear a recording of it, I have the one my high school choir did. But it's beautiful--it could be about any country or place, and it's patriotic without being cheesy.

And then...we're doing "How Can I Keep from Singing?" *melts into a little happy-puddle of Candy-goo* I can't remember the composer/arranger's name, but it's the one with the blue cover. This will mark the third time that I've sung it, and I love it more and more every time I sing it. It's sooooooo beautiful, with a great message....and I'm going to brand myself a music nerd forever with this, but the key change makes me chordgasm. BIG TIME.

I'll probably post lyrics later, just to share the fun =D

Would you believe I have the whole soundtrack of the Phantom of the Opera movie that came out a little while ago written down on paper? I get really bored sometimes. And musicals pwn my soul XD;;;;

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I have Parade all written out somewhere; don't feel bad. Plus, it's a musical. Musicals > most everything else.

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point. But sadly, I have not seen or heard a lot of the classics...like Les Miserables D:

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen Le Miz, either, although I've heard maybe ... 4 songs from it?

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I've gotten to play a couple of songs from it in band...*trying to remember which ones they were...*

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, really? I sang On My Own for voice lessons once but that's the extent for me. xD

[identity profile] jeva-chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Played clarinet and I think it was one of the slow songs...thing one of them was call Somewhere ...or I could be mixing up that West Side Story show we did with the Les Miserables show we did...*sweatdrops*

Ahaha, I can't sing for beans~ XD Musical instruments for me~

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I haaaaaaaaaate West Side Story oh yesssssssss I dooooo...see, my freshmen year of high school, it was the marching band show (and there is a song called "Somewhere" in it). Sophomore year, it was the musical. And senior year, "Somewhere" was part of the All-State choir set--though it was an AWESOME arrangement.

BAND NERDS UNITE! *is kicked*

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I sang Somewhere for voice, too. xD And yeah, it's from West Side Story. ...Close enough. xD

Yeah, I tried band and failed. One year of oboe was enough for me. xD I followed Candy's path, although we're different voice parts locked in an endless and deadly feud. xD

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I still hate West Side Story. Altos own your bases.

...and oh Lordy please don't get me started on the oboe jokes...I know a million of 'em!!

*sings* All the wasted time...all the million hours...

That's the only song I really know from it, but I loves it so. And I swear it's Shinichi and Ran's theme song... Do you know Jason Robert Brown's other musical, Songs for the New World? I love that one, too!

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I love that song!

I don't know Songs for a New World but I do know his other, other musical The Last Five Years by heart. Tell me you know it. If you don't, you are so getting it from me because best.musical.ever.

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)

I've heard of The Last Five Years and I've heard a couple songs from it, but I don't know the show...I'll trade you Songs for a New World for The Last Five Years? Also, have you heard I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change? That's a good one, too!

*is going to be uploading a lot of music tonight*

[identity profile] articulation.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, we are so trading. xD Last Five Years is possibly my favorite show ever. ... hee.

I have heard it! I wasn't completely in love with it but it was okay.

[identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! We shall trade, and we shall both have awesome new music! *innocent* 'Cause a lot of my fic ideas are inspired by songs I hear in some manner... *innocence*
