Update on the last couple of days ^_^
Whew...okay, busy couple of days in my little world! Thanks to everyone for their congrats on the piano test. I'm still in a good mood from yesterday! :D
I wanted to get to school around noon...but certain circumstances involving myself, the snooze button on my alarm clock, and a belated realization that I needed to get gas all contributed to me not getting there until closer to one. It was weird being back in the dorm and realizing that I didn't have keys to a room there...
I jogged up the stairs to
ashleymouse's room and we wound up chatting for a bit--she went to New York, and brought me back a souvenir from the Museum of Sex. I am now the proud owner of a keychain with a condom inside. We have also ascertained that it is, in fact, a "In case of emergency, break glass" keychain ^_~
We went over to Edson and ran through it a few times quite successfully...but the real test came then: we went down to PK's office and performed it for her. And it went well. I mean, REALLY well. And that's the thing--I get nervous in front of people, so if I could play it in front of her, that was a good sign.
Another girl, Heather, had to do some of her stuff as well. We had a nice conversation while we were hanging out in the practice rooms, waiting for four o'clock to roll around so we could get the show on the road.
She wound up going first--Ash and I waited outside and listened. Heather did REALLY well on her scales and repertoire piece. She hesitated a little at the bridge of her piece, but from what we heard, they had her play that little part again, and she nailed it. Then it was my/our turn.
Were my hands shaking? You bet. Did I make mistakes? Absolutely. Did I make mistakes I had never made before in practice? That's a law of nature, I think. But did I play it well? YES. Definitely, yes. Like, I sat back after I was done and grinned. It was also nice that Jerry (the band director) was giving me a thumbs up. I took that as a good sign :D
I got some comments--I have a tendency to use too much pedal, and I need to work on lifting where the vocalist breathes (but we can put that off to a lack of practice time with my amazingly awesome vocalist). Basically, just a couple of things that'll get better with experience.
Then we waited out in the copy area for HALF AN HOUR while PK and Beth sat and talked. And then Beth went upstairs the back way, so Heather and I had to go upstairs and kinda hang back around her office door until she came out and asked what was up. After a few minutes of nervous fidgeting, I just blurted out, "...did we pass??" And Beth chuckled and went, "Oh, yeah..." So that was nice ^_^
I'd talked to Little Sister a few days prior, because I thought it would be cool if we did dinner while I was up there. It wound up being me,
ashleymouse, Little Sister, and Little Sister's Roommate (henceforth known as Morgan). We went to Boswell's, a nice local place with awesome food. I was in a really good mood since I'd passed piano, so I said I'd buy the appetizer--a huge platter of cheesy fries with bacon and ranch dressing for dipping. They were divine...and the whole platter was gone in two minutes. I wish I was joking--that thing was gone in sixty seconds *laugh*
It was a great time, too--four friends, hanging out, having a great dinner. The conversation was hilarious, too. I think we all laughed straight through the meal. But the best part was definitely what happened right after we'd placed our orders. They have a school desk there--about the size for an elementary schooler--where they keep crayons and things for kids. And there was a little boy, maybe about five years old, digging through the desk, which just happened to be next to our booth. Here's what happened...
Boy: *looks at my sister* ...hello, lady.
Sis: *likes kids well enough, so smiles* Hi!
Boy: *looks at our table of four girls for a minute* ...boys are better than girls.
*the four of us look at each other and crack up*
Man: *presumably Boy's father, walks over and picks boy up--looks embarrassed* You're not going to make friends if you say things like that.
*we continue laughing*
He looked to be about at the "girls have cooties" age, so it was funny. If he was our age and saying it, I would have swatted him with my menu...or my drink.
We went back to campus, and I hung out with Ash for a little while longer before heading home. It was dark, and the weather's been kinda iffy around here lately, but the roads were surprisingly good. I did stop at the store on my way home and pick up some ice cream for myself--I recently got hooked on Peanut Butter Panic ♥
And that was my awesome yesterday :D Note to self: Morgan and Sis and Ash and I must do Boswell's again sometime. That was so much fun!
Today I did have to work a six-hour-shift. I set my alarm for nine AM. Hit the snooze repeatedly until it was around ten. Got up, and spent my day relaxing before I had to go in. At work, I found myself training a new kid--I hope we keep him. Good worker (if still a little green), good attitude, pleasant to make conversation with :D The downside to training is that closing takes forever. We close at eight--I got home at a quarter after nine x_x Didn't help any that we got slammed with a rush at seven-fifteen, so I didn't get to take my twenty-minute break at seven-thirty...and so I got back at ten to close. Whoo XP
Also--this morning, I got a phone call from the floral shop in the grocery store where I work, saying that there was an arrangement there that someone had said I'd come pick up. I picked it up--it was from PK, with a card that said, "Congratulations--I knew you could do it." It was for piano--it's a lovely arrangement, all pink and orange and yellow in this adorable pink vase ♥ For all that she can drive me nuts sometimes, she really can be awesome :D
Then
writergurl came over to pick up a disc with some pictures, and we wound up chatting for a while =P And now I'm hanging out online, drabbling like a good little fanfic-addict ^_^
For the drabble request, I have three more done:
For
hagane_no_heiji: Two of a Kind. (Be warned, for it is the crackiest piece of cracktastic crack I have ever written.)
For
strawberrychan: Playing in the Rain (THERE! YOU GET YOUR HEIJI/KAZUHA SMUT! NOW STOP POKING ME WITH THAT STICK!!)
For
ran_mouri82: Telltale Stain You have Eri/Kogoro. Rejoice and be glad :D
For the record, "Playing in the Rain" and "Telltale Stain" will probably wind up in

"Two of a Kind" would be perfect for [Bad username or site: 30 Cracks @ livejournal.com]. Don't know if you're doing that challenge - uh oh, I should shut up now and not tempt you to take on another one.

For which challenge? The comm name did something weird...meh, perhaps I'll just toss "Two of a Kind" into

You should try Ben and Jerry's Half Baked. It has cookie dough, brownie bits, chocolate chips, and fudge swirled in...divine!

I didn't know your name was Mary.
Peanut butter's normal to crave, I think. Now, if you develop the urge to spread it on pickles, that's a little odd..
