...I think I owe a few people apologies, before anything else.

I had a little freak-out last night (never had a panic attack until this past summer, but I've had a few in the past couple of months)...and then the next thing I know, I was getting IM-ed to ask if I was okay. After a minute, I realized I'd made an LJ post (it's under f-lock). I didn't remember posting that (which freaked me out even more) but I had replies to it. So...I'm sorry, everyone. I didn't mean to worry anyone. I don't know what's wrong with me.

And [profile] magicbulletgirl? I'm sorry I disappeared like that. I hit the wall and crashed hard. And I didn't wake up until this morning. I'm sorry, to you and to everyone =(

*sigh* Okay, onto more cheerful topics--yesterday was an interesting day.

Started off with an Art History test, in which I once again proved that I am incapable of remembering dates. *pounces on test and eats it* Ugh...on the bright side, though, pretty sure I nailed my first essay--it was on the pyramids, and if it's ancient Egyptian, I can tell you all about it! I've actually been biting my tongue in class to keep from correcting the prof's PowerPoints. On one slide, he was talking about the goddess Isis, and said this was a statue of her, with ox-horns with the moon between them. Unfortunately, that's not Isis--that's Hathor, goddess of love and dancing. Isis has a little staircase-like thing on her head, not horns. But meh, whatever.

Religions of Asia was interesting. We talked about the gods and goddesses and looked at statues of them. My partner and I had Krisha--pretty sure he's a stud, because he played his flute to seduce girls from his village. And we all know that studly men play the flute ^.~ So yeah, that was a fun class.

NO VISTAS REHEARSAL!! WHEE!! So I had two hours of free time to hang out, enjoy lunch...and finish my homework for Methods. Got everything done, and had the shortest Methods class in history because we just each had to present a lesson from our assignment, and then talked about this judging clinic that's coming up on Tuesday...which I realized today conflicts with a meeting about student teaching. Gotta talk to my professor about that.

Yesterday was the American Heritage Lecture Series on campus--the speaker was Madame Sedat, humanitarian and former Egyptian first lady. The choir always sings at the event--we sang "How Can I Keep from Singing?" and "Homeland." I had the alto solo in the duet on "How Can I Keep from Singing?" Pretty sure Megan and I knocked it out of the park.

Then I left, went and changed into my skirt and cute red cleavage top for the private performance in the evening. This is where the speaker talks privately with the administrators and trustees (aka the people with money and influence) in the smaller auditorium. And the chamber choir always sings a couple numbers. So we dressed up and met in one of the forum rooms to warm up and wait to sing. And I was wearing my new shoes, the first pair of actual heels I've ever owned ♥

We're standing there, lined up and ready to rock at the door, except for one guy named Kyle who was jumping around near the wall. He jumps in the air...and the fire alarm goes off. It was then that we all noticed the alarm for that room was right above his head. His reaction was priceless, too--he got really wide-eyed and went flat back against the wall with thhis horrified expression. Now, we all knew that he hadn't done it, but we couldn't resist teasing. And thus, everyone began filing out of the forum. They still had the buffet tables set up, so we're all sneaking crackers and cheese on our way out. And there are older folk stopping to grab another glass of wine on the way. It's like, "The building is burning down! Red or white wine?"

Outside, it was warm enough, but the wind was blowing. I was also amused by the fact that all the older people huddled near the doorway while the kids got the heck away. I sat on the steps by the Arch with a few other people and we waited and waited and waited...we were supposed to be done by six-fifteen. AT six-fifteen, PK approached to say we were going to sing, and could I please sing this solo because the guy who was supposed to sing it had to leave. This is a solo that I've never sung and knew I couldn't sing right.

Long story short, we wound up singing outside, standing on the grass, with the sun in our eyes and a tiny little electric keyboard for accompaniment. Most of us girls were in heels--let's just say that the lawn was very aerated by the time we were done. I was doing a StairMaster kinda thing to keep myself from sinking into the lawn. But the audience was very appreciative of our makeshift concert settings, and we were sprung.

Because of the lecture, the servery was closed, so we got meal vouchers. [profile] ashleymouse and I traded our skirt/dress pants for jeans and went to Hardee's and enjoyed a nice dinner. Miriam and Rachel showed up and sat with us while they ate, too, so it was really nice. Then I came back, MSN-ed Matt, and headed over to Jeff's apartment.

Jeff graduated last year, and he's now working for a local newspaper. So we went and hung out with him for a couple of hours. It was a great conversation--he's a former RA, and both Matt and I are RAs, so he understands some of our frustrations with things. He also understood our irritation with an article in The Tack (our campus newspaper) that basically accuses all RAs of being Nazis who are only hired to write up alcohol violations so Student Services can collect the fines. A few things bothered me about this whole spiel:

A) I'm in my third year as an RA, and I can count the number of alcohol documentations I've done on one hand.
B) The person writing the article has apparently been busted and fined numerous times (according to the rumors).
C) The article was quite clearly unresearched, unvalidated, and libelous, and therefore, I consider it to be yellow journalism.

And I know for a fact that it pissed off a lot of people, RAs and otherwise. Anyway, came back from the awesome conversation (and back-rub!) at Jeff's, changed clothes, and hung out on chat for the rest of the evening.

This morning, Little Sister and I went to our hometown to take care of some banking things. We also stopped at Best Buy, and I got the second part of Season Two of Ghost Hunters. [profile] ashleymouse and I are watching it right now, 'cause it's much awesome ♥ Just need to get the first part of Season Two...but anyway, I also took a lovely nap this afternoon, and [profile] ashleymouse and [profile] jewelsybear1017 and I went down to the Cent Room and enjoyed some cheeseballs about an hour ago.

Also, the thirtieth fic for [profile] 30_nights is flying along. I don't think it'll be too much longer before it's ready to rock! *happy happy backflip* And I think I know what's going to be the twentieth fic for [profile] 30_hugs. I just have to write it now =D
