Last night I posted something to the effect of "there's not a lot of snow falling." I woke up this morning to a phone call saying we had no school. Yaaaaaaay~ Then I got online for a bit and tried to go back to bed--a futile endeavor.
Around eight, I noticed that it seemed very bright outside my blinds. Like, I thought the sun was out. Moved the blinds, looked out...and found myself staring at a raging blizzard. We got BURIED. The fire hydrant out front is almost completely buried. Some guy in a pick-up truck was spinning his wheels for over half an hour on the street...and made it about nine feet.
A little after four, I went outside to clear off my car before it got dark. I used a shovel to clear off my car. Dug all the snow out from around it as well. As I was going about this, my school's superintendent came walking by (he's my across-the-hall neighbor), and he said we might not have school tomorrow if the roads weren't a LOT better.
I've already gotten a phone call that tomorrow is a two-hour late start. It's still quite possible that it could be changed to a day off if the roads are bad--our district is very rural, and there's a lot of buses going on two-lane country roads. I hate driving on those roads when the weather's bad. We'll see what happens in the morning.
So what did I do with my day off? I wrote a couple of fics (the one linked below and today's entry for
31_days), did a LOT of knitting, and watched Eddie Izzard and George Carlin videos on YouTube. I consider it a day very well spent. Lazy is good for you. Oh, and I got a couple more books from LibriVox on CD. I'm halfway through Phantom of the Opera. So far I like it ^^
And finally...
HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY,
