Wow, what a day yesterday was...

candylandHere's the semi-quick version of what happened yesterday. Day started off really great--I got up early enough to work out a bit and have breakfast before I went in. And then it sort of started going south...
Car accident in the employee parking lot. Unknown person hit an employee's car hard enough to A) knock her bumper/back end off (like, I saw one of the maintenance guys carrying that part of her car out of the street), and B) knock her car over a good 2-3 feet into the brand new pickup truck parked in the next spot, denting it. Parties responsible were still unknown as of yesterday because the perp drove away. Managers said that if it's an employee, and they don't 'fess up immediately, and they find out who it was, that person will lose their job.
Waited on bitchy customer. Lady asked for container of sesame. I went for white pint container, which is how I'd been trained. Lady asked for bowl. Figuring it to be a size issue (because the white container looks smaller, even though it's actually a little bit bigger), I told her they were the same size. She said she wanted a bowl, and so I gave her one.
...apparently that constitutes me bitching at her, and someone having "pissed in my Cheerios" (same to you, lady), as she went up to customer service and complained about me. Said she wouldn't come back if I was here. Which I (and incidentally, my coworker) actually consider a bonus--I'm there five days a week, we will not miss your bitchiness, nor will we particularly miss your demands for a discount.
But here's where it gets interesting: by policy, the shift manager came back to talk to me about it. That's fine, I can handle it. Where I raise an eyebrow is the fact that Chong (my coworker, who was not involved) came back and warned me that Shift Manager (henceforth SM) was on her way back to discuss the complaint with me, and told me the actual complaint.
And she made it sound like SM had told her about it.
...why the FEK was SM discussing this with another coworker? If I want to share, that's one thing, but... @_@
So I talked to her about it, and I basically got a finger wagged in my direction and told to just give the customer what they want. Which I did, which doesn't make sense. But I had to go up and talk to the personnel manager after work anyway about something.
First thing I did was apologize if I caused her trouble--she's a really nice person, and I don't want to cause her trouble. And--are you ready for this--she told me not to worry about it because I have never had any problems before, and from what SM told her, this lady is not exactly pleasant. In other words, I have an awesome record with them, so I'm off the hook. She actually used the words "If it were any other employee" in this conversation. ILU, PM ♥
I then mentioned that Chong knew about it before I did. Apparently this is "weird," as PM put it. I didn't want SM to get in trouble because she was really nice to me, but it did not sit well with me. Especially because she's...not generally the type to keep her mouth shut, if that makes sense? :S
...and then I asked her about the other thing, and the answer was very happy-making :D
In short, a really great day turned really shitty really fast, and then was all better by the end!
My sister is home for Easter weekend, so we went to Texas Roadhouse last night~ *mourns for my diet* The trouble with that place is that it's so loud, and my dad is all but deaf in one ear, and my sister does not believe in speaking slowly and distinctly. So half the meal seemed to be Mom telling her to SLOW DOWN.
So tonightkaitodoushi and I are getting together for movies and Pokemon trading XD YES, THIS IS AN EVENT FOR US *laugh* Hon? I'll call when I'm leaving work, like I usually do, and I'll just swing by and pick you up, and we'll go from there :3 In short, our typical hang-out plan!
