*ahem* First off, I would just like to say...

THE PRODUCERS IS MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF LOVE!!!

That having been said, onto the actual movie review :)

For those of you who don't know, the movie (lovingly taken from the smash hit Broadway musical that was lovingly swiped from the non-musical movie made about thirty years ago, all by Mel Brooks) is about a washed-up Broadway producers and an extremely nervous accountant who band together to put on the biggest flop in Broadway history. Why? Money, of course. Ever heard of the song "Springtime for Hitler"? There ya go.

Went in with high expectations. Since I live in Middle-of-Nowhere USA, I haven't seen the stage show, but I love the soundtrack, and thus went in expecting to laugh and be very entertained. And I was! Some of it was just really silly. The "Keep It Gay" number had both my sister and myself rolling in the aisles. Luckily, the theatre was sort of on the empty side, so we could make a little noise.

But yeah, laughed for most of the show. Was quite impressed with all the performances--Uma Thurman definitely did Ulla justice, and Will Ferrell played an AWESOME Franz Leibkind ^_^

Waited all show for Mel Brooks' to make his customary cameo. He did--at the veeeeeeery end. If you go see it, hang out until after the credits for one more song.

I think my mom put it best. She does not like the original movie (starring Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder) at all. She pretty much hates it. When I asked her what she thought, she smiled and said, "It definitely works better as a musical."

Go see it!!
