candyland: (who me?)

Two or so times a semester, campus sponsors a Midnight Movie. Sign up in the GSLC (or what many of us affectionately call the gizz-lik, all wisecracks will be laughed at =P), get a little ticket thingie, be at the movie theatre an hour early to make sure you have a seat, and enjoy a free movie, courtesy of our Student Activities Board. I always wonder how many people in the theatre are drunk...but anyway, on these movie nights, I've seen The Forgotten, Corpse Bride, Chicken Little, Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, aaaaaaaand...

Ice Age 2 equals LOVE!! ♥♥♥♥

The Good
- Old characters (Sid is still idiotic love, Diego is still dark-humor love, and Manny is sarcastic love.)
- New characters (Ellie and the possums... *glomples Eddie and Crash* I believe I can fl-- *CRASH!*)
- Scary underwater fishies (Will not make Kaito joke...)
- Some beautiful animation (the tidal wave scene was INCREDIBLE)
- Plot was pretty good
- BG music was EXCELLENT!!

The Mediocre
- It was a little on the short side...but it didn't feel short, so that's kind of in its favor.
- One scene that really felt like a bad Lion King rip-off. I leaned over to my friend and started humming "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" And he laughed and agreed.
- The vulture musical number was kinda bizarre O_O
- SKRAT DIDN'T GET HIS GODDAMN ACORN!!! *pouts*

The Love
- Baby animals equal cuteness. Cuteness makes Candy-chan go *SQUEE!*
- The sloth "Fire King" tribal number. I was dancing a little in my seat. *crosses fingers* Please be on the soundtrack...
- Skrat. He saved the day! I love that little guy! I really think everyone in the theatre just wanted the poor little squirrel thing to get his goddamn acorn! I say that because someone actually yelled at the screen "Give him the f**kin' nut!!" There were applause when he appeared on-screen.
- Skrat's slow-motion acorn ballet at the end. This gets a separate note because it was the funniest freakin' thing in the entire movie!!

Also--I think my muse clocked back in from its vacation in the Bahamas. The plunnies bit me yesterday--big time! Thanks a mil to everyone who poked/punched/kicked/gave it shiny things to play with it. Hopefully, will have a nice little PWP piece for [livejournal.com profile] 30_nights up sometime in the near future.

There are two musical numbers in the movie, and they're both fun. The vulture number just kinda came outta nowhere is all ^^;;

I loved Ice Age 2, lol. I saw it the day after it came out with my sister and friend Katie and we just laughed through the whole thing. Definately liked the "Do we have to take all this crap?" I loved the vulture musical number, hahaha, but I'm such a musical theatre nerd. Apparently that's a song from Oliver! that they sang.

I cried during Corpse Bride, lol. I'm the biggest baby in the world. If you ever have the opportunity to watch Titanic with me... bring your own life preserver because theres about to be a flood :-P

*laugh* I cried the first time I saw Titanic, too ^_^ Ice Age 2 was cute =P But our school paper panned it, which made me sad ;_; And someone else complained that Skrat had too much screen-time, to which I say, "Uh, yeah. It wound up being important to the story, yes?" *sigh*

Honestly, I wasn't as impressed by Corpse Bride as I wanted to be...yet I keep watching it ^^;; I dunno, it just lacked something for me. The ending was so sad, as Emily flies away, and then...it stops. End. No more. Goodbye. I was flailing.

At first I was like "Oh geez, Skrat is getting old" but I was so happy when it all fit together and I didn;t mind anymore.

I cried in Corpse Bride when Emily flew away, lol. Nightmare Before Christmas is sooo much beter though.
