Pretty sure I failed that Visual Basic test yesterday >:(

As for today...grrrr... *pounces on Art History test and eats it*

Yeah. It kinda sucked. But in Religions today, we had an awesome discussion about some of the gods and goddesses of Hinduism. Based only on today's discussion, I think this is going to be a very interesting section of the class. Also, we came to the conclusion that Krishna is a total stud ^.~

American Heritage Lecture tonight. Then Matt and I are going to Jeff's. WHOO!

And now, a meme, as ganked from [livejournal.com profile] articulation and [livejournal.com profile] djtifaheart...

Name a character, and I will tell you in at least 100 words why I love that character.

For the last time...I HAVE READ TWO VOLUMES OF BLEACH! THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME A FREAKIN' EXPERT! Caps locks for teh winz!

I do love Al, but there's a very special place in my tar-blackened little heart for Ed. He's a lot deeper than he initially appears. There's a lot of heart under that unique exterior--and he adores his brother. You can’t beat brotherly love, in my humble opinion. He’s a stubborn, tenacious little guy, figuratively and literally (I also have a soft spot for the little guy), and it’s just really freakin’ cool to watch him do alchemy. I heart the shiny. The braid is cool, the angsting is cool, the automail is UBER-cool, and the short jokes are my freakin’ bread and butter when it comes to FMA. Much love.

And in honor of this, I hereby enact my sole FMA icon. Enjoy it well!

Kuroba Kaito/Kaitou KID

Date: 2006-10-01 01:48 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com
How do I love thee, let me count the ways? Okay, okay, I was first exposed to KID really through Becky Tailweaver’s story “Relative Truth,” and I thus devoted myself to finding out as much as I could about this mysterious character. And I fell in love. Big time. First of all, I’m a sucker for a magic show. I looooove that kind of mystery! And Kaito is such a complex character—he’s a class-clown, a goof, and yet so brilliant, but under the surface, there’s some conflict, a lot of emotions that he doesn’t let anyone see. And his loyalty to his late father is so deep that he willingly becomes a (very awesome) criminal in order to avenge his father. And I’m also a big sucker for romantic angst, and his consistent denials of his feelings for Aoko and his internal struggle of those feelings against his need to seek justice for his father…that kind of thing is my bread and butter.

Plus, I really like roses. And it take a very special man to make a monocle look sexy. KID is that man.

Toyama Kazuha

From: [identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com
Sonoko is one of the few characters on that show that sort of annoys me (though I wouldn’t necessarily say I dislike her), so I’m going to give Kazuha a little love instead. To put it bluntly, she kicks a lot of ass. In movie 10, the thief charges at her, and she just grabs his arm, spins around, and throws him without flinching or breaking a sweat. Freakin’ awesome. And yet she’s also got a very soft side. It’s obvious that she cares a great deal for Heiji (all appearances to the contrary), and as evidenced by the infamous cliff-scene, I really believe she’d do anything for him.

In short, she’s incredibly loyal, she’s tough, and she can work a ponytail like none other. And for someone as hair-stupid as me, ponytails are like gold.

Oh, Heiji. Our beloved ahou. This is a guy who’s absolutely brilliant, and yet still somehow manages to not have a clue. He can piece together complicated mysteries, whip someone’s ass in kendo, and still find time to give Kudo a hard time…but then he can’t figure out why he gets so mad when Kazuha does something flirty towards another guy That case with the magicians? I was torn between laughing my head off and headdesking myself into oblivion. He’s frighteningly self-unaware…but he’s still so adorable! And the boy can definitely work a baseball cap. He’s the resident goof of Detective Conan, but he’s still smart and capable.

And that’s why I love Heiji. Even if I do want run him over with the Clue Bus a couple of times and then lock him in a closet with Kazuha.

Kudo Shinichi...

Date: 2006-10-01 02:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com
Ah, Shinichi. I actually fell in love with him (or rather, Conan) the first time I watched the show—it was the episode with the guy in bandages at the villa, and it was the part where Ran crawls into bed with him because she’s scard, and he wound up unable to work through his deductions because she was so close…and he was staring at her lips.

Shinichi is so brilliant in so many ways…but I seriously think he’s a lot deeper than some people give him credit for. It’s said that geniuses march to the beat of their own drummers, and Shinichi is no exception. The downside of that is that I don’t think he really has a lot of friends his own age—there’s Ran and, to a certain extent, Sonoko, but that seems to be about it, though he gets along well with older folk. It seems like he has more friends “his own age” (in both senses) as Conan than he does as Shinichi. I gotta believe there’s a lot of loneliness behind that cocky, smirking mask, and character depth like that intrigues me. I also very much admire his dedication to Ran—tres cute!.

…and anybody who can make a soccer ball into a lethal weapon scores major points in my book.

*laugh* Everyone favorite pyromaniac! Bad boys are always fun to watch because you never know what they’re going to do next, and Tasuki is no exception. In terms of animation, he has some of the best super-deformed, chibi-forms, and facefaults in all of Fushigi Yuugi. I love the way he talks and his interaction with the others. All-time favorite exchange?

Nuriko: Tasuki-chan, can you tell me what this sign says? *holds up sign*
Tasuki: *reads the sign in Engrish* Delicacy.
Nuriko: Right. DO YOU HAVE ANY? *turns Tasuki into a wall-angel*

His interaction with Miaka is also interesting. For a guy who claims to hate women, he is always worrying about her. This leads up to some trouble in the OVA (gaaaaaaaah *flails wildly*), but it’s all good in the end. I also find myself wondering if he was the victim of a freak dental accident that resulted in him having those fangs.

And Tasuki makes fire. And anything involving fire rocks my face off.

Nakamori Aoko

From: [identity profile] candy--chan.livejournal.com
This girl has chutzpah. Lots and lots of chutzpah. Her mad mop skillz are for the win! She’s extremely loyal to a rather difficult best friend (and we all know why, even if she doesn’t or won’t admit it), and puts up with a lot of crap from him. Her dedication and stalwart belief in his innocence is very admirable.

Poor Aoko always seems very lonely to me. Her father is off chasing a phantom, and her best friend has grown very distant (for reasons she’s unaware of), and it seems like she’s very much alone. As I’ve said to some others, I rather like character depth like that, the things one tries to keep hidden. But she keeps going, perseveres, and keeps snarking at Kaito, putting him right in his place and smacking him with a mop when he’s being dumb.

And on occasion, she’ll chase him with a fish. Because sometimes, the idiot just deserves it.

Ai…at first I wasn’t quite sure what to think of her. But I have grown to very much like her. First of all, she’s brilliant. Secondly, she has a very dry, dark sense of humor, and that’s something that I really enjoy. I’m morbid like that ^^ I’m also big into character depth and character development. She’s got a backstory—we know a lot about her, but at the same time we don’t. There’s a lot of unexplored area there, and I’m very much hoping we’ll get into all of that eventually…reading eventually as “soon,” of course.

I’m also sort of intrigued by her friendships with Conan and Ayumi—her relationship with Conan is a point of contention for the entire fandom, but I do think Ayumi is a good influence on her, I think Ai’s developed a big soft-spot for the kid, and their relationship almost seems sisterly to me. I do want to explore that friendship at some point…it really intrigues me.

Besides, every show needs an evil eight-year-old ^.~

Shigure, Shigure, Shigure…I’ve come to the conclusion that I like any show with A) a kaitou in it, or B) an author who shirks his responsibilities (see also: Kudo Yuusaku). Shigure cracks me up, what with his hilarious means of tormenting his poor editor, his flippant (oft pervy remarks), and his anime facial expressions. He’s a lovable goof.

And yet…it’s said that still waters run deep. Anime!Shigure actually has numerous nuggets of wisdom that he bestows upon various other characters (particularly Kyou). He teases and jokes, and yet you know there’s a formidable intellect in there. He’s creative, too—building that nice dummy to hide from his editor.

Manga!Shigure…I’m not sure if I like him yet—there’s still some of the goofiness and teasing and the same intellect, but it’s a lot more manipulative, more scheming…and I’m not sure if I like that or not.

Also, I’m very much a dog person. Cats usually hate me.
