I'm back!! *does a happy jig*
Kansas City was freakin' AWESOME! It was great to hang out with Torbo and Paula! I was uber-tired all weekend (slept a lot in the car), but we had a great time =D I spent a lot more money than I probably should have, but oh well, whatever! *munches on Jelly Belly jelly beans* Hmmm...juicy pear...
The drive kinda sucked, not gonna lie. We're talking close to six hours behind the wheel each way. The last two hours of the drive there were in the dark (I'm not really even huge on night-driving in familiar areas!), and perhaps the first half of the drive back was in a nice big rainstorm. Visibility was crap in both cases...but I made it safely, and am relieved to be sitting on something that isn't moving at seventy MPH! *snuggles into bed*
And I've discovered that I love listening to country music while I drive. Anyone heard the song "I Loved Her First" by Heartland? Anybody have the mp3 and want to share?
Oh oh oh! And check out the dresses we picked!! That's the design, will be in silver--the wedding colors are blue and silver. The best part is that the little thing around the waist? It hides *ahem* tummies...I'm sort of the biggest of the bridesmaids *slightly self-conscious* Plus, there was this hook thing in the back, and when Torie hooked it, I looked in the mirror and went ZOMG! CURVES!
Also got a candle-warmer and a candle for it--now my room shall smell like vanilla frosting! YUMMY!
The only real downer of the weekend? Turns out they have to postpone the wedding. It was supposed to be January twenty-seventh, which worked out perfectly for me because I have my student teaching meeting on January twenty-ninth, and then start student teaching on the thirtieth. But the groom's grandfather was just given ninety days to live...exactly ninety days before the wedding. So they're postponing the wedding because of it. I just asked Torie to let me know ASAP when the new date is, so I can get myself arranged--once I'm student teaching, my schedule is no longer mine, per se. But we'll work it out!
And I have about seventy-five percent of my homework done, so I'm relaxing for a little bit and watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. This is such a feel-good show...I always cry when I watch it... *is a sissy*
BTW...did someone call my cell phone while I was in KC? I had a missed call from a number I didn't recognize, and I have this little phone phobia about calling people I don't know, so I haven't called back...
Anyhoo, great to be back--back online, and ready to rock!
PS. Oh, and I also got a slinky redcleavage shirt AND the new Nancy Drew game, Creature of Kapu Cave. No fics until I'm done with it! *will continue playing after Home Makeover*

Date: 2006-10-16 01:30 am (UTC)They were gonna get married on my Mom's birthday! But, yeah, if someone's not doing well in the hospital that's a good reason to postpone.
You missed... Well, nothing here, I guess XD. I haven't posted anything. I worked. It stunk. And I plotted evilly which was fun, but... [/babble]
I totally forgot what I was gonna say.
Have you read my fic yet? XD(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-16 01:43 am (UTC)I'm glad you got back from your trip safe, y woo-hoo country! Haven't heard that song yet, though. (Speaking of songs: check my journal for the link to a song (it's in the first journal on the page). I'm trying to get it out to all the fanfic authors I know, 'cause I want someone to songfic it. Fair warning, though: it's a bit of a tear-jerker...)
As a last note, 'cause I really need to get to bed: vanilla frosting candle? All my candles are still in boxes (I refuse to unpack my knick knack boxes until I paint my room, since most of it goes on the walls), but now I really want to pull one out... -.-'`

Date: 2006-10-16 04:32 am (UTC)I DL-ed that song and listened to the whole thing...and the ending is something I've actually already done in a fic ^^;; But I think I could work with the first part, for sure!
The candle itself is technically vanilla-scented, but it smells more like vanilla frosting to me. And now my room smells purdy!! *cuddles candle-warmer...and promptly starts self on fire* EEEEEEEP!!!
BTW, icon love ^_^

Date: 2006-10-16 04:34 am (UTC)They're actually going up to visit him and take pictures with him in her dress and his tux (her dress is GORGEOUS, BTW). Otherwise, we're just waiting and seeing what happens.
YAY FOR EVIL PLOTTING!

Date: 2006-10-16 04:37 am (UTC)I saw Candyland at the store we were at...why did they make a DVD game out of it? WHY! *weeps over broken childhood*

Date: 2006-10-16 01:12 pm (UTC)That's a pretty dress. ^^ I always wonder how strapless gowns actually hold up. XD; **has never worn one.**
Ninety days to live? Blurgh. Poor guy.
Yum, vanilla frosting.... X3
Yay, another Nancy Drew fan! **high-five!**

Date: 2006-10-16 02:42 pm (UTC)There's actually a little thing at the middle of the back that hooks and really cinches it tight, so it won't go anywhere. They're just made to fit so they won't slide down--I've never worn one before either ^^;;
When I was out in the hallway, someone commented that the whole hallway smelled like cake, and thanked me when I said it was my room *laugh* So yummy!
*perks up* You play the ND games, too? *cheers!*

Date: 2006-10-16 02:47 pm (UTC)Not the games so much as reading the books, but I'd have more of the games if I had the money, definitely! ^^ I liked the Mystery in the Haunted Mansion game, especially when I was able to find clues without relying on the Help website. LOL.

Date: 2006-10-16 02:58 pm (UTC)Message in a Haunted Message was really good! I've played and beaten all of them #^^# A lot of the newer games haven't quite been up to the level of some of the older games, though...but the trailer they had at the end of this game for the one coming out next year? It looks like it'll be pretty good!
And actually, I got a plunnie talking to
(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-16 03:12 pm (UTC)Buwahaha. XD Is your plunnie going to be a DC/Nancy Drew crossover?
(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-16 03:21 pm (UTC)*grumble grumble* Stupid plunnies... *mutter mutter* Won't leave me alone... *whiiiiiine* Have no idea how it's going to work, but I feel compelled to write it ~.~;;

Date: 2006-10-16 03:24 pm (UTC)Danger by Design.... The original book of that was from the Casefiles series, wasn't it? I don't like those as much as the original series.
XD I've had lots of plunnies like that. Some of my best fics have come from weird ideas that I felt compelled to write. ^^ And sometimes the fics end up being ... just weird, like the original ideas.

Date: 2006-10-16 03:34 pm (UTC)I'm not sure where Danger by Design came from, but the game wasn't that good. It's the first time I've ever been outright disappointed with an ND game. It was too short, there was appallingly little character interaction, the music wasn't as good as the usual, and the initial plot got lost in a "subplot." I will say that the "beating the culprit" thing was cool, but the ending...yeah, it just wasn't a very good game by comparison. The graphics were great, though =P [/rant]
Crazy plunnies are fun! *laugh* Kinda like that one you just posted? I left you a comment on it on the LJ post ^.~ Tres cute!

Date: 2006-10-16 03:50 pm (UTC)Yep, crazy stuff like that, and like the thing I put up on Saturday where Gin got hit by a car and ended up having an out of body experience. XD **pats poor Gin and Vodka.**
And I got the comment! ^^ Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the randomness. And nope, I didn't get where your joke came from, though it was amusing. XD
(no subject)
Date: 2006-10-16 04:13 pm (UTC)*laugh* Oh really? I might hafta go check this out...what happens while Gin's in his out-of-body experience?
It's from Garfield and Friends. My all-time favorite episode title from Garfield's Tales of Scary Stuff! My mom thinks it's sad that I can remember that episode title from my childhood, but not remember to clean my room or make that important phone call ^^;;

Date: 2006-10-16 04:34 pm (UTC)We've been buying Garfield for my dad on DVD as a steady stream of birthday, Christmas, and Father's Day gifts. He LOVES that show ♥
