... dude.

What happened to being a non-wanky fandom?

We used to jokingly wank over what kind of skirt Kaito should be put in ficcage. And now we're on fandom_wank?

*shakes head*

Yeah, I was checking my flist over on jf earlier and saw that. It's been awhile since I've seen a wank I knew about beforehand. Odd that~

Edit: The wank is amusing me greatly at this point. Apparently, Knightus is solely responsible for keeping the fandom from vanishing off into the aether. Who knew?

I dunno. Would a blood offering suffice or do I have to burn some precious doujinshi at his altar? =(

Eh, it only takes one wanker fapping away unto eternity to get on f_w, and Knightus seems to be doing quite well in that regard. *shrugs* I don't think it reflects badly on the fandom, after all it's mostly him who's doing the stupid dance.

And now I go sleep before Candy keels me ded. *waves*

It's bad that I shed an emo tears, whispering "My lovely fandom, it became an adult, so touching." Y-Y XD;

Well, beeing put on fandom wank haven't killed anybody...yet.
We've lost the count for the number of HP wank and there are still potterfiction, ne?

(sigh)
That beeing said, it would have been better if the wank was funny and not nasty. If it was something like... I dunno, a good old pairing wank, or... hey, Candy, you're sure you don't want an I-pod?XD

(The title of the wank repport was pure genius)XD

I have no idea. Three and a half years we've been in this fandom (because I think you and I fell into it around the same time?) and so far as I know, this is the first time it's exploded.

...so what kind of skirt should Kaito be put in? *SHOT*

It is true that Knightus (and to be fair, I think some of it is his supporters' doing, and I'm up in the air as to whether or not he knew about some of it--so I'll be fair on that point) is doing a lot of it...but at the same time, it also means that Beca's name could potentially get drawn through the mud. I think thus far public opinion is on her side, though.

There's a troll over there slinging shit around and saying it's making it a more balanced presentation...despite the fact that A) nobody cares, B) it's setting itself up for shameless mocking, and C) I don't think it has a single bit of proof to back up anything it's saying, as opposed to Beca, who has careful documentation.

Ergo, troll looks like a moron and everyone mocks it.

I've been following it for quite a while now--I've been a willing ear for Beca through a lot of it, which is why it's become very personal for me.

Oh, the anony-troll? Yeah. Apparently doesn't realize that nobody really cares. Especially when troll isn't providing any actual evidence to back up its claims. And this isn't even the fandom proper. These are people who have no connection to it whatsoever, so there's no way to claim bias.

Granted, I told some of my students about the basics of the situation--had a nice discussion with them about internet harassment, and actually gave one of them a couple of pointers on documenting such things. When fourteen-year-old high school freshmen are going "What the hell?" YOU HAVE ERRED.

Hmm...what kind of doujin were you thinking? *hides the pr0nz*

I know. It just won't stop...and I am sort of fearing repercussions on this, even though MBG had nothing to do with it. Plus, the comments are all from complete strangers with no bias at all >_>;;

It can't go on much longer, can it? Really?

Oh man, unless she starts foaming at the mouth and shrieking like a harpy (i.e. like his supporters are doing), then there is nothing to worry about. They've already got the locals poking them with sticks thanks to their stupidity of trying to justify their actions with vague points of contention without supplying any proof of wrongdoing.

I mean, come on, anyone with half a brain knows that attempting to argue the point on f_w only opens one up to further mocking. :D They're going to eat that troll alive~

If you've made it onto Fandom Wank, you have reached the epitome of fandom idiocy/notoriety. It's a big comm that most people in fandom are very aware of.

The situation as it stands is that bad. The website hacking was ultimately what decided her to go public on this, and the one IM she received was potentially a federal crime (internet harassment). I doubt she'll press charges because the fact is that scanlating a licensed series is illegal. So...it is a big mess. We can only hope it ends soon.

Three and a half years I've been into this series and fandom. Haven't seen anything like this, and as I understand there hasn't been anything like this before. We pride ourselves on being wank-free >_>;;

*laugh* Oh, the Harry Potter wank on there is fairly legendary. The big difference, though, is that HP is a HUGE fandom. DC/MK, on the other hand, is a great deal smaller, and rather tight-knit in many circles. So when something like this happens, it has the potential to hit a LOT of people in varying ways.

Like you said, it's not even funny wank. It's bitter and nasty. But really, all we can do is ride it out and wait for it to settle back down. And I've got an mp3 player that I love ^__^

I agree on the title z(^o^)b

I was wondering if that question would pop up! *laugh* Although given the size of [livejournal.com profile] dc_yaoi...I don't think that's the mindset in this fandom ^_~ That's always been the nice thing about DC/MK--aside from the occasional Ran/Shinichi vs. Conan/Ai debates, most people just live and let live on pairings.

IM IN UR BASE, STEELIN UR PR0NZ!!

That's the other thing--up until she went public about the harassment, she hasn't said much publicly about it. She's carried on as usual. As opposed to the Knightus supporters, who are waving the dirty laundry out to anyone who will listen--and before anyone flames, I specified the supporters. Like I said, I'm trying to be fair here that it wasn't all Knightus. So MBG comes out looking classy and mature, while they look...well, like idiots.

Pfft~ You don't go into f_w expecting that. You CAN'T. The evidence is provided (and in this case it was extensive), and the locals (most of whom I doubt have any connection to what's going on) are making their judgment on it. So the troll trying to carry the banner is just going to make things worse AND further the local opinion that Knightus!supporters are psycho. And somehow, I don't think that's what it was trying to do ^_~

Hmmm...freshly roasted troll! *readies the potatoes and dinner rolls*

Also, I love your icons *hearts*

HA! HA HA! *superior chuckle* None of that pr0nz is DC related! Neener! 8D Too busy shelling out teh moneyz for teh g4m3z to get any doujin from my newest shiny fandom yet. Woes.

Eh, even if there were pairing wars it wouldn't bother me. I pay them very little mind. Besides, considering the fact that I tend to throw characters together on random whims, it's very hard to have an OTP! D: Oh noes! I'm not a true fan! Teh shame! *slitz wrists*

DUN CARE! PR0NZ IS PR0NZ! :D

I usually stay out of ship wars unless they're brought directly to me. Only ever been directly involved in one--back when I was in CCS. A friend asked me to join their flame campaign against someone who reviewed an Eriol/Tomoyo fic with an admittedly-rude review blaring that E/T was not canon (duh) and that Eriol loved Kaho.

So I sent the person an email in which I introduced myself, I said that I was stepping in at the request of a friend, and I outlined my points politely and neatly. The first line of the response I got was "Finally! Someone sane!" We bounced emails back and forth for the next few days, debating artistic license and artistic intention, and finally parted ways amiably, agreeing to disagree. Catch more flies with honey...

But yeah, I feel weird in a couple of fandoms where I really don't have a pairing that I support--Avatar is the most blatant one. Hikaru no Go is shaping up to be another one. I dunno, I'm just a desperate fan of friendship fics ^___^ NUUU! DUN KEEL URSELF!! THINK OF THE PR0NZ!!

Well, he pretty much lost whatever standing he might have had in my mind with that IP crap. Hackers don't need somebody to give them an IP address. They can just trace it. And I'm not even close to being a hacker. I is very stupid in the ways of such, but I've been around long enough to see through the smoke of that particular brand of dumb.

Yesh. We tend to eat people alive (including our own on a fairly frequent basis). *ish olbie there* :3

Your icon... *dies*

I agree. Saying that the IP address was causing harm to his website or Paypal (as alleged in those emails) is crap. IP addresses only show where the internet connection is hooked up. And while I'll admit that it might not have been him who did the actual hacking, trying to argue that the IP was harming him doesn't hold water. And it hurt the credibility even more when MBG asked for specific evidence of how that was so...and their next response didn't answer, but trotted out the threat of legal action. Which is even more bizarre because scanlating a licensed series is illegal. If they take action on her, Knightus goes down as well--and somehow, I don't think that's what they want.

*laugh* I enjoy visiting f_w every now and again. I'm starting to comment with the idea of getting enough comments to my name to actually get an account from that one comm that will give out invite codes... ^__^

Ho ho ho. The closest I got to shipping in the CCS fandom was that saga I will probably never complete... Though I suppose the darkfic might count. D: Maybe?

Oh god, reviews sparking pairing wars? XD That's classic. FF.Net, rife with teh stoopid.

Oh! I know, especially when there's a lot of shipping for the ones you're, uh, friendshipping. LULZ. XD; And then people poke you to put the ships in your stuff when you'd just rather go with the warm and fuzzies instead of the moans and excess body fluids! I do write satisfactory pr0nz when I feel like it though. :D Tis fun.
