In my last entry, I was all yay because I'd gotten an email that said my Phantom Hourglass stylus was on its way to my hot little hands, right? Well...guess what was in my mailbox when I stopped by the post office today :D *is a happy girl now, yes*

Anyway, the real reason I'm making this post is that I just put my nice little tax refund in the bank, and I'm in the mood to buy something-- *pauses to dodge thrown things* But I don't want to buy anything TOO expensive. So, dear f-list, I ask you all...

What are your thoughts on the PSP and/or the XBox 360? Do you have any game recommendations?

I should point out that I really don't care much for shooters or war games *pokes fingers together* Which is why I'm hesitating on the XBox, because it seems like the only games I see for it are *gasp* shooters and war games. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that, I just calls 'em like I sees 'em.

Not saying for sure I'm going to get one or the other or anything at all, but I've been thinking about it. Even if it does feel like I'm cheating on my Nintendo DS by considering a PSP. *hugs DS* I love you, baby--for realz~ *looks around* ...what?

*Candy is hereby shunned by the collective population*

ETA: Feel free to discuss here, if you like, but keep it civil. No fights.

The PSP is loads of fun with the whole media thing, watching anime right after you play a game is always pretty nice. I've never actually used the feature myself since I'm too lazy to figure out how to do it.

If you do get it, however, story-wise things tend to be either really generic RPGs or tactic/strategy. There are some puzzles like Loco Roco and Lumines, but they aren't exactly story-driven to my knowledge. If you do decide to take up on the RPG challenge, I definately recommend Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Jeanne D'arc, and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. You could always try your hand at Me and My Katamari, there's that weird Futuristic Harvest Moon thing floating around... Oh! If you want a good old Platformer, you should grab Ape Escape on the Loose! :D Hrmmm... Riviera: The Promised Land follows a somewhat fun and old RPG formula where you didn't walk on your own and used directional arrows to switch between screens. Really fun game there too. Wild Arms XF recently came out and there have been rumors of Persona 2 being ported to a PSP.

I've never actually tried the puzzle ones though, so I'm probably not being fair. xD I tried playing Lumines on it after playing it on my Sega Station and I could not get understand what the darn heck I was supposed to do.

I don't have any real opinions about the XBox 360. I know tons of friends who wanted to buy it for Eternal Sonata, but I never quite got used to the ARMS IN WEIRD POSITION thing. I'm sure there has to be some kind of nice brain-working game, but considering the target audience I sort of doubt it. *mauled by xbox fans*

While I'm on the game subject, have you snagged either Hotel Dusk, Trauma Center, or the Phoenix Wright games for your little DS? :D

Hmm. I got my PSP way before I got my 360, and I do not regret it. The 360 just didn't have enough games on it that I was interested in, and even right now it doesn't have that many either. =| Tales of Vesperia will be coming out on it, true, but that'll be awhile yet. The PSP on the other hand has quite a few fun games on it already. The ones [livejournal.com profile] mint_eclair mentioned as well as Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (which features a remake of Rondo of Blood and a cleaned up port of Symphony of the Night), there's also a port of Ys VI (which I actually found to be more fun in a portable version...), Tales of Eternia (-_- if you import it from Europe...), Tales of the World (:o I need to play this more, it's quite cute), and Crisis Core just came out too (granted, it's yet another of those FF7 games, but it actually looks like it'll be a lot of fun). There's also a good chance that Squeenix will bring their Star Ocean remakes over. :P So yeah, a lot of the PSP's attraction is in ports and remakes, but that's not necessarily a bad thing imo.

I've heard the XBox 360 has this defect that ends up with it easily "busted". As in, it'll just stop working suddenly, or something like that as far as I remember. You might want to take that into consideration. :)

As for the PSP, well... I've been told it might faze out soon, not to mention there aren't too many game choices... or so they say. < shrugs >

Me? I just got my own DS recently, a pretty metallic rose colored one. ;) I am content. XD

Haha, good luck with your video game hunting. :)

Much love! <3

**cuddles PSP.** Crisis Core has just been released, if you're still interested in trying Final Fantasy games. X3 It's an action/RPG-type game, and I've heard the battle system is similar to Kingdom Hearts in some ways. Plus, such beautiful men.... **puurr.**

Get a Wii. It has Mario. ^_^ You can even download the classic games for it. And the basic game it comes with, Wii Sports is a whole lot of fun. What? Me want one of these? Whatever gave you that idea?

Speaking from watching my little brother play the 360 an PS3, he seems to play the 360 a lot more. But he plays games online, like Halo 3 and Gears of War, both fighting games. That is all he seems to have. Pretty much the same thing for the PS3.

I say get both :/

but more the 360 than PSP. Honestly there isn't enough on the PSP. Sure you get the same old SRPGS and normal RPGs other than that... there isn't much that catches my eye. Sure if you have no other people to hang with, get a PSP.

360 is AWESOME. I never thought I'd ever want one. But there are a TON of games, you just never hear about 'em :/ and you can play movies, store media, songs, etc (just like the PSP) just alot bigger space.

Once you come up here in April I'll let you mess around with both of them, then you can figure out which is best. After all that is the best way to pick ^^:

yeah whats advertised MOST for the 360 ARE the shooters and war games and stuff.. but I've only got -1- of those and 10 games so ya'know there are plenty of games that just get overlooked x: to be honest I've got more hours clocked up on my 360 than my Wii so far, and I got the Wii on release, and the 360 -3 months ago-

Infact it's hard to hear about the good -none shooter- games usually but I know theres a few I'm dieing to get.. I just.. forgot what there called... yea.. That and you can download demos for free, and you don't =have= to pay for the xbox live to do it.

PsP does have it's share of games but they all looke the -same- to me. then again I don't have one so I can't really tell I don't tend to look at games anymore x:
...
I did not play the viva pinata demo for 10 hours straight. thats a lie.
