I can has it... *clings to game box*

I've always wanted to play Portal, but it was only available in the Orange Box with two other games...neither of which I had a lick of interest in playing. And I have to admit that I also have no interest in shelling out upwards of fifty bucks for three games when I only wanted one. So I sadly resigned myself to remain Portal-less...

Until last night, when I went to Target in search of a copy of TWEWY, which NO ONE AROUND HERE SEEMS TO HAVE EVEN BLOODY HEARD OF. And lo, instead I found a copy of Portal, all by itself! Just Portal! For a far more reasonable price! And lo, the Candy did buy it, and lo, the Candy did squee like a little girl, and there was much rejoicing.

I haven't started playing yet. I really need to get off my duff and finish Scratches first, since I've been playing on that game for, oh, a few YEARS. Should really just finish it.

Priorities? What are priorities? I HAS GAMES.

I should have a copy of The World Ends with You soon, though... *clings to lwyn, who is hereby nominated for sainthood* Games, games, games...must also keep up on summerwrite. Not that I'm falling behind or anything... *stares at word count* I think I can break forty thousand words by Wednesday \o/

While I'm on the topic of Ye Olde Games, I was poking around on YouTube last night in search of something to watch. CONFESSION TIEM: If I'm with friends, I frequently prefer to be the spectator for a video game session. Don't ask me why, but I have just as much fun sitting and watching my friends play and making jokes with them as I do when I'm actually playing myself. In some cases, I think it's more fun.

And lo, I found this site. (There's a lot of lo-ing in this entry.) People play through video games as fast as they can, record it, and post it there so you can watch. I'm...watching Donkey Kong 64 *laugh* Never did finish that game. Just want to see the ending. Have been perusing the list, and see a few others I might want to sit and watch. It's nice because I can do other things while I watch :D

As a non-gamer, I love watching cutscenes, but you like watching gameplay? It's probably interesting when someone speeds through it, or friends are playing.

It's a video game that's something of a puzzle. The player's in first person, shooting a gun that makes portals through walls so, in the various environments, he can move boxes to certain places and complete the puzzle. What makes Portal so quirky is that the villain is an AI computer named GLADos (not sure I got the caps right, but meh), who is as snarky as they come.

If you haven't touched the game yet, you are gonna love it. I was totally surprised at how in depth the game was, and how much you had to think on your feet (so to speak) in the later levels. I had the xbox 360 version, with the rest of the orange box...which is awesome also if you get a chance to play it :P. Most of my friends even loved the game, good luck and have fun with it :)

I just always had fun hanging out and watching. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing. But there was something highly entertaining about being the observer and making jokes along the way. Especially when I was sprawled half in the room and half out in the hallway, using Sage's butt as a pillow :D

And I'm a dedicated observer myself, so I empathise. Certain games...I love the story, the music, the atmosphere...I just suck at playing them T_T; so watching someone else play them is RADDD.

Congrats getting Portal! FUNNEST FPS EVAR? I do believe so. And you are in for so much fun when you get TWEWY. That game is ace.

*nod* I used to have a lot of fun watching my friends play Mario Kart and cheering them on. It was just a good time, ya know? And when I'd play Kingdom Hearts with kaitodoushi and bishonen_girl, I had a lot of fun watching and making wisecracks :D

Portal is fun, but I don't really have the time to just "mess around" with it

totally ended up with more hours spent on halflife 2 (if not just throwing things around with the gravity gun) in that set lol. As good as portal is, I rather think of it as a "freebie" to compensate the extra cost with the other games, it's individual price on it's one just seems a little much for it's overall length, even if it's brilliant designed, and well written.

Aww...yeah, we never had that problem ^^;; We just had fun and made jokes and stuff. Mario Party and Mario Kart were our favorites because a lot of us could play, and they had enough stuff to keep us all intrigued ^_~

The room we were in was a single room (aka a glorified walk-in closet), so I wrapped up in my big comfy fleece blanket and got comfortable. And used Sage's butt as a pillow ^_~ Ah, interim...was always so much fun... ~♥♥♥
