HAI GAIZ! ACCORDING TO THIS SECRET OVER ON [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets, IF YOU'RE OVER TWENTY-ONE IN FANDOM, YOU NEED TO GTFO BECAUSE YOU ARE CREEPY.

Ironically, this post went up shortly after a discussion I'd had with [livejournal.com profile] ickaimp about the average age in fandom. I dunno. I'm twenty-two, and I don't think I'm that creepy. And I think the vast majority of my f-list is around my own age, though I know there are a few who are older and a few younger. *shrug* And I think it's a bit unrealistic--I know I can't just drop fandom, you know what I mean? It's my hobby.

Dunno, just thought it was kind of interesting to think about.

Besides, who wants to be grown up all the time? My father's going to be sixty in August, he's a warehouse manager and as such is very professional...and he can be one of the most immature people I know. It's just more fun that way.

...the remainder of this entry brought to you by the "restore from saved draft" feature after my computer decided to Blue Screen of Death me. I wonder if it had anything to do with that game I was trying to install :S I hope not... *wants game pleez*

Speaking of my dad, Mom has assigned my sister and I a SEKRIT Project. Since Dad's going to be sixty in August, she wants us to have a surprise party for him. Bug and I are in charge of the planning and set-up. Since I'll be home for the summer, I already told Mom that I have no problem running to get things and pick things up and all that.

The trouble is getting some time for just us girls to discuss it, since Dad likes to accompany us on various missions. So I suggested to Mom that we should make the only excuse we can that will get us out of the house without Dad: WE ARE GOING SHOPPING. Then we can sneak out to dinner and make some plans. This is going to be fun!

...and gaaaaaaaaah I can't sit still!! *flails around* RESTLESS CANDY IS RESTLESS. SAAAAAVE MEEEEEE!!

I'm 25. Those people need to realize that, yes, we have interests outside of work, too. In fact, if you have a job you don't really like, you need the escape.

Just tell your dad you girls are going to have a girls day out. A day of female bonding.

Yo! I'll be 30 in September, and my primary fandom, historically speaking, was POWER RANGERS... and I wasn't even close to the oldest one there. They can jump off a cliff.

Or take a long walk off a short pier.

Gotta give it to the selection of the casts for Power Rangers. I couldn't complain about the good looking guys. ^_^

POWER RANGERS!! \o/ I used to rush home from school every day to watch that show! :D Haven't seen it in ages, though...I think I stopped watching soon after they all got changed into kids again...?

And yeah, the person was a troll. ANY comment left in regards to their secret, they replied to it. And this person is allegedly a year younger than me. Yikes.

The person claimed to be twenty-ONE. A year younger than me. And fandom is my hobby, albeit one I spend a lot more time on than I probably should on occasion. Can't really just drop it.

*snickers* That's another good idea...

Same here. He was hot stuff back in the day. Especially when you consider I was in, um, 5th grade when it started and everyone considered it a little kids show. If they had known I watched it, I would've been teased.

No, you can't drop it. It is a part of who you are. I don't think I'd want to do it for a living but I thoroughly enjoy it as a hobby. ^_________^

That's one thing a guy won't question. And it's the truth, which makes it even better!

Face it, you are old! *sparkles* I am still young and fresh with my 21 years and- *gets bonked*

...wonder, if that person thinks all people in our age are too old for stuff like that, why does that person hang around on FS? o__รด If I would think like that I would avoid it *scratches head*

What a moron, don't he know that fandom is SERIOUS BUSINESS(tm), it's obviously not for kids. X)

More seriously...So, I'm creepy(damn creepy since I'm 24 years old and that you're already creepy at 21), according to ...some kind of logic?
...

...Actually, it doesn't bother me. Hey, I've already dreamed of being creepy. Beware, kids, I'm in your fandom, crushing your childhood with bad porn. X)

Oh, I've said, more SERIOUSly?
Well, explaining how much this reasoning could be mades of FAIL would be a waste of times, I don't get this guy's logic, but it's not from my planet.
(And more often that not, kids in fandom could be more creepy that adults) ^^; XD

On the other hand, it sounds too much like a troll...

*snarfles* Methinks they have never run across the funtimes associated with trekkies or the Star Wars freaks. The internet just makes it easier for us fans to squee to our heart's content, but we've been doing it forever. :Db

There's no way in hell I'm ever telling my mom to stop reading fanfiction because she's too old for it. D: She'll eat me alive!

Already 30 and I still get down with the Sailor Moon fandom from time to time. And back when Rurouni Kenshin was still airing/being written I often talked with another fan who was in her 50s.

Nah, they just need to grow up. ;)

*snorts* So just because I'll be 24 this year and actually DO have a life, I shouldn't draw or write for fandoms I like? Yeah right - they can shoot themselves in the head. I do what I feel like doing and I don't think my age has anything to do with it.

STFU kiddies, you just made me angry. *loads a shotgun*

*laughing* Good luck with your secret plans! A surprise party for your dad sounds really sweet.

Not to marginalize the productivity of the below-21 group, but I honestly think that in most cases it is the so-called 'older' fans who design and put up websites for the series, research tables of facts that people can consult before writing their fics, find obscure scans and translate them. I spent a lot of time in Veronica Mars fandom before and I think most of the good writers there are at least twenty years old and above. Maturity is an asset, not a liability, and without the so-called 'grown-up' geeks, who are going to make good superhero movies? Michael Bay? Hah.

Not to mention, during strikethrough-gate, the ones who came up and argued with lj about censorship laws and stuff are mostly the adult group--makes sense, I think. That being said, my beta-editor is barely seventeen, and she rocks so hard. That theory sure is stupid, though.

...I fail at making short comments.

There's a really awesome author in Detective Conan who's in her forties. A lot of fandom is in their mid-twenties, depending on the series, and a lot of gamers are college age. This person's either an idiot, or they worded their secret really badly.

Sympathetic villains! TJ! *Selwyn Ward was the most incredibly drool-worthy guy ever to be on PR, IMO* Drama! TJ! Andros the Emo Badger Boy! Zhane, AKA "Brad Pitt's Cheaper Twin!" TJ!

... Uh, yeah, can you tell I liked Space?

Space was the best thing ever! I didn't think anybody could win my heart away from Tommy, but then Andros came along. OMG, best angsty ranger ever! That, and they had the best villains ever too. \o/ And yes, TJ was hot stuff.

Andros' angst was not nearly ridden into the ground like Tommy's, nor did it define EVERY aspect of his character. Tommy finally got better, but not until he was Red... and then he still didn't get nearly as three-dimensional as Badger Boy.

I STILL have a soft spot for Ecliptor. *hugs big crystal henchman*

Eh. When I was young(er), I always thought I'd naturally lose interest in comic books and video games as a college student. I just had this impression that college students were smart and mature people with more "serious" interests. Little did I know.

(By the way, I found you on ff.net and I'm adding your LJs to my friends list. Just so you know.)
