Accomplishments for the last few days have consisted of a whole lot of reading and writing. Oh, and five hours of work. After the last couple of weeks, though, where I was nudging towards overtime (a big no-no at my place of employment), it's sort of nice to have a week where I get to relax.
On the reading front, I went back and re-read a whole bunch of
marsdejathoris' fics on her ff-dot-net account. Her DC/MK stuff is fantastic, and so is her Danny Phantom stuff ♥
I am also currently sort of getting hooked on Special A. Started it on
lwyn's rec a while ago, read through the first thirty-ish chapters (that's all that was up), and then nothing new appeared for a while. Suddenly I go back and BAM there's the entire manga. I've only got another twenty-ish chapters to read. It's shoujo-licious! And I feel like I should be ashamed of using that as a positive thing.
But eh, some of my first fandoms were things like Furuba and Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth. I'm still a fan of Ye Olde School CLAMP Stuffe. If I like it, I'll read it, regardless of genre. If I really like it, I'll write stories in which odd things happen to the characters.
Which reminds me that the final volume of Furuba will be out in another week and a half or so, if I'm remembering my dates correctly. I have every intention of going and getting it, and then reading the whole series from top to bottom. I am looking forward to it, even if the series has become synonymous with "starting off creative, clever, and interesting, and descending into stereotypical shoujo melodrama somewhere around the halfway point."
We do, indeed, call it Furuba Syndrome. (See also: Ouran High School Host Club, which is next on my list of things that I need to catch up on reading. I'm only eight chapters behind, so that won't take long at all.)
The next six months or so come bearing no less than four video games I want to get.
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box is FINALLY coming out in August (I already have my copy reserved at GameStop, whee puzzles!). Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is out in September. Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks has an '09 release date, but considering that Phantom Hourglass was pushed back about six months, I'm not holding my breath. And finally, Ace Attorney Investigations is scheduled for January of 2010.
And while I'm thinking about LoZ, this is very amusing. As are the responses.
...aaaaaaand put 3K+ on that DC/MK Fic In Which I Do Evil Things to Kaito. Barely scratched the surface of the whole idea. I might start skipping around a bit. Write the scenes that are the clearest first, and then link them together. Including the scene that sort of wrote itself in my head last night while I was trying to fall asleep. I'm sure all the writers on my f-list know exactly what I'm talking about there.
Still, it was a very pretty scene :3c

Date: 2009-06-25 05:18 am (UTC)Anyway, hello! My name is Kia, and I came here via an urge to read Kaito/Aoko on ff.net and I followed the trail of fish, more or less. And you do seem like an awesome person, and always nice to meet a fellow writer, so I hope you don't mind if I friend you!

Date: 2009-06-26 03:47 pm (UTC)I agree with a comment someone made about the new LoZ. It seems like as of late, they're just putting a mystical-sounding word in front of a noun to get a game title. Phantom Hourglass. Twilight Princess. Spirit Tracks. If the next game isn't Ghost Pants, I want my money back!
The joke about the manga, though, was that this mom didn't get that the manga was printed in the Japanese format and was warning people that it was "defective." I've read some of the LoZ manga as well. Fun, silly stuff!
Yes. Evil things >D First part of it is done, and the second part is well underway. It...looks like this might be a semi-long one. YAY!
