Needing some halp?
Jul. 21st, 2010 09:56 pmThis is a request for some recommendations and/or suggestions.
On Tuesday, I'm singing at this awards dinner thingie at my mom's work. We're figuring around 30-45 minutes worth of music, which would be anywhere from 10-15 songs. I have...two figured out and tracks found for XD
So what I'm asking for is recommendations or suggestions for songs that one would sing at an award banquet. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, the two I've got so far are "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Harlem Nocturne." Ya know, classic and non-offensive...the kind of things a lot of people know XD
There's a couple others that I wouldn't mind doing - it's just a question of whether or not I can find some sort of karaoke track to go with them before Tuesday. Great to have notice, eh? But what can you do?
THANKS IN ADVANCE, GAIZ!

Date: 2010-07-22 03:21 am (UTC)But what about Paint it Black? I don't know if it's "well-known", but it seems decently popular to my knowledge. And you sent me a cool orchestral version of it you might be able to use for the karaoke, if you can't find it otherwise?
I'll let joo know if I think of any other songs... *ponder*

Date: 2010-07-22 04:08 am (UTC)Songs, hmm.... Would something like Remember Me This Way work? Or maybe that would be too bittersweet, I dunno. XD; The Wind Beneath My Wings? Or maybe both of those are too modern. I consider them classics, but I dunno what the general populace thinks.

Date: 2010-07-22 04:18 am (UTC)Some nice songs off the top of my head that people will know and which can be done in an up tempo or ballad tempo as you prefer: "Blue Moon", "East of the Sun, West of the Moon", "Just in Time" and any of the old Broadway tunes like those by Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, etc. Also: Cole Porter.
Will you be performing before they eat or will you be expected to provide music while people are dining? If singing while they're eating bossa nova's are always nice background music: Wave, The Girl from Ipanema, Corcovado...
Good luck!

If I think of anymore I'll text you.
