Christmas wish meme...
Nov. 21st, 2006 08:32 pmSwiped (lovingly) from a couple of people...
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 mumblemumble holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your f-list (or friend’s friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
*The Do-able*
1. Fics/art
Conan and Ouran are my luffs of the moment. I know people will probably want to stab me over the generic "fics and art" label, but I have no specific scenes or pairings in mind.
2. New icons
I loves them. I wants more of them. As said before, Conan and Ouran are the current luffs.
3. Hugs
Stealing a page from
ickaimp here. I LIKES HUGS!
*The Not-Immediately Do-able*
4. The Wedding Singer soundtrack
The Broadway show of this rocked my face off on the Tonys. I wish to hear more =D
5. More LJ icons
*laugh* Yeah, I'm a glutton. Would uberly-love to have the hundred icons ♥
*The Things Nobody Can Do, but Dammit I'm Listing Them Anyway, So There!*
6. Meeting people!
Forgive me if I sound slightly stalker-ish, but there are a couple of people on my f-list that I want to meet because I think you are uber-awesome and you would be so cool to go get coffee or a sandwich with and chat about random stuff. So it'd be like AIM, only with food. And no computer screens =D
7. Successful student teaching
Speaks for itself. Leave me a truly selfish wish or three, please ;D
8. Happiness
I want my friends to be happy. It seems like everybody's so down about this and that...and I hate that I can't do anything. I know, I know, can't change the world, but...for Christmas, I want everyone to be happy!
Oh yeah, and if you want a Christmas card, don't forget to leave screened commentsies here!
