Summertime...
Jun. 30th, 2005 11:19 amGreetings, one and all. It's been quite some time since I posted in here, huh?
Well, summer is one-third over. *sigh* I'm working back at Hy-Vee, proof positive that I really need a job/dinero. If you can avoid working at Hy-Vee, please do. You have been warned. Parts of it really aren't that bad, but there's a couple of people that I work with in particular that are forever at each other's throats, and it spills over onto the rest of us. It's kind of a pain, and I don't like being caught in the middle.
We've had some interesting times at work, though. Like one day, three people came in--two guys and a girl. They asked a bunch o' questions, and then ordered the All-You-Can-Eat. Well, throughout this whole ordeal (why did I have to be the one to get their food...), one of the guys was banging on the windows over the food, slamming his head against his arm, and other disturbing behavior. I got the first guy his food, and then turned to the other two (including Head-Injury Guy)...and they're standing there, snogging royally. I'm like, "Ummmm...next?"
So we got them food and sent them down to the dining area. The guy in line behind them actually asked me what substances I thought they were under the influence of. Not really a tactful way to respond to that, so I just said I preferred not to speculate.
These people came back two more times and got a TON of food. The amount of food that makes managers think about putting a limit on what can be taken. And, as we found out when we went down there after they left, they barely ate any of it. I hate wasting food. Plus, the guy who cleans up the eating area was pissed because they got it all over the table, the booth-benches, and the floor.
We have a manager named Scott who we call the Cabbage Patch Kid, because he looks like one of those dolls (I could make a Robot Chicken joke here about wanting souls if I reeeeeeally wanted to scare Vixie, heehee). Well, last night, we thought an employee was not paying for his food, so we were going to be the Food Nazis and go bust him. We ran into Scott, and he said he'd take care of it.
Well, then Michelle, the girl I was working with, decided to give him a call over the intercom to see what happened with that. She asked if she should call Cabbage Patch Kid to Chinese Express. She picked up the phone, and choked out this: "Cabbage Head to Chick..." and slammed down the phone, cracking up. As we're all having a good laugh, there's a page for Michelle to pick up one of the in-store lines. She was still laughing pretty hard, so I answered in a squeaky voice, "Hello, this is Michelle's personal secretary." He was amused :)
The Spamalot soundtrack ROCKS. You want the Spamalot soundtrack.
In other news, I took my sister to get her senior pics done a couple weeks ago. We got the proofs back yesterday. Why can't I be that photogenic?? *cries* They are gorgeous pictures. Mom just started a new job, so she couldn't get off work to do it, so it fell to me to hover over Arwen with a comb and make sure everything looked good. I just kept asking myself WWMD--What Would Mom Do? Anyone who knows my Mom knows that Mom can do everything, so I just did my best, and it came out awesome.
We got new cellphones. Friends who have my digits, I can actually answer the calls now, without my phone freezing up! Huzzah, huzzah!
Let's see, what else...oh yeah! Next week is Anime Bash 2005. I am a nerd, and quite proud of it. But Kat and Rachie and I do one every summer--just sit and watch anime for about two days straight. This year, we're going to the grand opening of the new Best Buy first, 'cause they always have anime. And then anime, anime, anime...granted, after the party's over, I usually can't stand to watch anything with subtitles for a couple of weeks, but it's sooooooo worth it.
And I continue to fic. Right now, I'm just zero-ing in on my Magic Knight Rayearth epic. I've been at it for over a year, and I'm finally to the BEAST of all chapters. I'm veeeeeeery excited about it, 'cause it's a twist I've been waiting semi-patiently to toss out there since I started the fic last April/May-ish.
Weeeeeeeeeell, that's about it for the moment. Not too much else to report. I'll probably have more to say after party-age AND music camps at the end of July, AND when I get back into RA training mid-August...until then, not much doing. Just hanging out, chatting when do-able, and earning my paycheck.
Luvs, kisses, and illegal herbs to all!
