I saw this on somebody else's LJ, and decided to give it a try. Who knows, maybe you'll learn something new and exciting about me! ...or maybe just something new, I'm actually quite dull. These are random and utterly, utterly inane. But anyway, here goes!

1. I'm afraid of the dark. Absolutely terrified. Especially if there's something with a red light on it. The red light creeps me out--like the answering machine light on my phone. That's why I put a towel over my phone. But I like being able to see my microwave clock. As long as I can see that little green light, I'm just fine. But then I'm scared that I'll be looking at it and it will disappear and something will get me. *shivers*

2. If the only foods left in the world were [chicken] caesar salad, eggrolls, chocolate, and my mom's stew, I would be a very happy diner. If they threw broasted chicken into the mix, I would probably never wrinkle my nose at the scurvery again.

3. My first crush was in the third grade. His name was AJ--short for Andrew. He moved to Florida halfway through the year. I was really sad. He was a cutie.

4. I have never seen Gone with the Wind, Some Like It Hot, any of the American Pie movies, or Eurotrip, and a whole lot of other movies that everyone seems to think everyone in the world has seen. Deal with it.

5. If there's one thing that scares me more than the dark, it's elevators. Anyone who's travelled with me knows this, and knows it well. The one in the Forum here on campus doesn't scare me, I've ridden in it enough. But my friends can tell you that in Chicago, I was freaking out every single time we rode up to our floor...and we're always so high up...*whimper*

6. While I will admit that I enjoyed Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (even though I really didn't know what was going on), I have not yet bothered watching Two Towers. And furthermore, I fell asleep during Fellowship of the Ring...in the movie theatre. Again, deal with it.

7. You know you're bored when...I can tell you that the most bored I have ever been was once when I was doing laundry. Had no homework, nothing was interesting online, nada. So I sat and stared at my clothes going around in the dryer. And I found myself wondering if the clothes were getting dizzy. That was when I ran and grabbed somebody and said that we were going for a walk. Immediately.

8. I am bisexual, though I do lean more towards the 'liking men' end of the spectrum. Most of my friends know this. But it hit me that I hadn't actually tossed that out there onto LJ Land, so I thought I'd finally clear that up. GLBT pride!!!

9. My all-purpose internet nickname is Candyland. This actually started in high school, when a friend of mine dubbed me Candy due to my insatiable sweet-tooth. Somewhere along the line, it upgraded to Candyland, and I just haven't had the heart to change it since. Many of my fellow otakus know me as Candy-chan.

10. I talk to myself. Constantly. If you see me walking across campus and it looks like I'm talking to someone, chances are that I'm muttering to myself. That's me thinking. But when I really want to think, I will usually do one of two things, if possible. I might go get in my car and go for a drive; some of my best ideas have hit me while I was behind the wheel of a car. Otherwise, I go take a nice, long shower. Something about standing under a hot waterfall for about half an hour makes me think of some really good stuff. Some of my best fanfics have come from these moments.

11. Of all my friends, the one I have known the longest is [profile] msbbt. We go all the way back to kindergarten--her mom was one of our Brownie Troop leaders. It's just one of those friendships that will not die, and I am eternally thankful for it. I mean, who else could inspire a couple of fanfics AND a conspiracy theory in the space of one conversation? And for the record, Jesus WAS an alchemist.

12. Porn is fun, but I think hentai is hilarious. Because you know that for every poor schoolgirl getting viciously molested by tentacles, there is some voice actress standing in a recording booth, making those noises into a microphone. Does anyone else find this absolutely hysterical? I do.

13. When I am at home during breaks, I will go out of my way to watch Blue's Clues, just because I think it's a cute show. Where were shows like that when we were kids? Honestly...

14. I still play the Pokemon video games. They're fun. And I swear to God, one of these days I'm finally going to catch that damn Mew!!!

15. The first Broadway soundtrack I ever heard was The Phantom of the Opera, the classic two-disc soundtrack with Sarah Brightman as Christine and Michael Crawford in the title role. Since then, the Broadway collection owned by my family (mostly my sister and I) has grown to a few dozen soundtracks.

16. In regards to my middle name, I was actually named after someone. My parents had a friend named Angeline, and she was absolutely thrilled when she found out Mom was pregnant with me. She kept raving about how she was going to spoil me like a granddaughter and the like. But she died of cancer about two months before I was born. In her honor, they gave me my middle name of Angeline.

17. I've always wanted to go skinny-dipping. Just once, just to try it.

18. I am a full-fledged otaku. Most of my friends know this. What you might not necessarily know is that I probably have at least fifteen hundred dollars worth of anime and manga sitting on the DVD rack here in my dorm room--at least one hundred and seventy-five individual DVDs and books. This is the result of about four years of collecting. I have also been posting fanfictions on fanfiction.net for over three years now, totalling over 705,000 words in 114 stories spanning ten different series.

19. If you want to sedate me, give me a really good backrub. I will not resist.

20. I am a really lousy girl. I mean, REALLY. I can barely manage make-up without screwing up, I lose all eye-hand coordination if I try to paint my nails, I don't go nuts over shoes (though that's partly because of my ginormous feet, so cute shoes are often a dream...), I can go months without feeling the need to buy a new outfit, and my hair has approximately four styles: down, ponytail, half-back, or pigtails. Everything else is a variation on those. I am a lousy girl.

Whew...that was actually kind of challenging. Some of these things might be known to my friends, others might not. I honestly can't remember what I have and have not told you guys. So hope you enjoyed, and maybe learned something new about me. It would be awesome if some of you guys did this too! It's kind of fun, trying to think of things to throw in there!

Ciao,
~ Candy-chan ^.^
