Uber-long post ahoy!!
Jan. 28th, 2007 08:59 pmUgh...dun wanna get up at eight AM on a Sunday...mmmph...
Actually, we'd planned this--Mom and Dad and I went to breakfast at Hy-Vee (aka the grocery store where I work, even though I'm done with working regular hours WHEE!), and then went grocery shopping. The only reason I really went along was because I wanted to get some stuff to make lunches for the rest of the week. I gots good stuff :D
Then we headed over to J.C. Penny's. Over breakfast, Mom had mentioned something in an echo of a thought I'd had a few days ago: I'm moving into the professional world (EEP!), so should I get a briefcase or something? So we headed over to luggage. This will probably mark the first time in my twenty-one years of life that my mother has uttered the phrase, "Don't worry about the cost." I wound up picking out a nice leather one--plenty big enough to hold my music, notebooks, etc. It was originally $120 (which made me go ACK and prompted my mother to utter the aforementioned phrase), but it was on sale for seventy. Not bad at all!
Then we wound up in the clothing department. I've been trying to build up my wardrobe with a few more "I'm an adult, take me seriously" outfits, but I needed a couple shirts. Long story short, I wound up walking away with half a dozen new shirts AND two new pairs of slacks. For someone like me, who is very hard to fit, that is quite an accomplishment ^_______^ So I think I'm sitting very pretty when it comes to professional clothes that I can wear to student teach--seriously, I am in love with my burgundy suit. I really am. I think I will wear it to initiate my student teaching on Tuesday...
We also stopped at Walgreen's because Dad insisted that I needed a lunch-bag, so we got one, and then I got a new travel mug because let's face it--an hour-long commute that requires me to leave before seven AM? Coffee. Coffee means caffeine. Caffeine is good. I am going to become a coffee-drinker out of necessity.
Also, I realized that if I just kinda tug on the washcloths I've been knitting, then they do wind up square :D :D :D As you can tell, it's been an uber-smurfy day for me!
Tomorrow I have a meeting on campus about student teaching. How weird is it that I'm more nervous about this meeting than I am about actually starting student teaching? I'm really not nervous about starting at the school--it sounds like they're both going to have me observe and cooperatively participate for the first couple of weeks, and then kinda ease me into it. Plus, High School Teacher says she'll have some music for me to look at to help her students start getting ready for solo/ensemble competition, which is coming up fast.
Part of my nervousness might be that I wasn't aware that I was supposed to go meet my second coop (i.e. the teacher I'll be working with for the second half of the semester) and deliver the handbook BEFORE I started the first half of student teaching. So let's pray that I have an open afternoon sometime before the end of March where I can go meet with this teacher. Because if not, I might be in a wee bit o' trouble >.>
Just occurred to me that I didn't post about my initial meeting with my coops...
( Heading back to school! )
So I'm feeling pretty good about the teachers I'll be working with. Now to just survive this meeting tomorrow (why am I so nervous about it??), and I'll be ready to rock.
Oh, and while I'm on the line--
msbbt? Unless you have uber-big plans that you cannot break, you're being kidnapped on Friday night for movies. And possibly dinner.
bishonen_girl and I have decided thus ^_______^
EDIT: I replied to this comment on the anonymous secret meme. Please, whoever you are...let me know that you're okay. Please.
