*sits up and looks around*
Aug. 22nd, 2007 12:34 pm...bwuh? I'm alive? OH MY GOD, I'M ALIVE!!
The kids have gone home. The first day of school is "over," as they had an early out...but we teachers get to stay until 3:45 like usual. And I am still standing...and actually quite pleased with myself, all things considered.
I think it went well. The high schoolers were pretty cool--to see if they were awake, I introduced myself, beginning with, "I was born at a very early age on my birthday, and then I was raised until I was as old as I am now. This is the oldest I have ever been." And they laughed, so I knew they were awake and listening!
I did almost have a freak-out, though--my opening thing was that I was going to tell them what their names meant, right? Well, yesterday I spent over an hour looking up all the names on my list and finding meanings or other trivia behind them. This morning, I pulled it up to add another girl to my list who had been added to my choir class, and I saved it and that was that. Well, then my computer started buggering on me. Come choir time, I go to open up the word document with all my names saved on it...and it's gone. Both the middle school and the high school list have VANISHED from my hard-drive.
...so I pulled up the websites on my laptop, told the kids that my computer had screwed something up, and looked the names up as we went down the list. So it was okay.
The middle schoolers...those kids are all crazy and I think I am going to enjoy working with them XD One kid in particular--I think I'm going to have to keep an eye on him. I stopped talking for a second and said, "Let's see here..." sort of under my breath, and he jumped in and said, "I can hear you thinking." After a couple incidents of this, I walked over and leaned down, pretended to listen near his head for a second, and said, "Yup--I can hear the echo." Everyone laughed--including him. Happiness =D
I know I've still got a bajillion and a half things to do, but...having gotten the first day tucked securely under my belt, I feel a little bit better. Granted, we haven't actually started singing yet, but...I'm feeling a little more confident about things.
Also, I got tagged on this meme by
okami_tsukuyomi a while back, but I guess I missed it...

( Rest of months are under le cut! )
Fic-wise, I've got another two done...and this one other idea that I was talking to
ran_mouri82 about last night. It might be one of the most brilliant ideas I've ever had, honestly--I'm that proud of this idea. (Now watch--when/if I ever get it written and posted, someone's going to throw some little bit of obscure canon in my face to refute the entire thing, but until then...leave me my little delusions!) The trouble is that the dialogue for this has to be perfect. If the dialogue isn't spot-on, it'll break the entire thing. And I'm going "GAAAAAH..." over it because I really want to write this and have it be good. Moof...
Oh, and one more thing for the road. I went and got my mail yesterday. I grabbed it, took it home, and began digging through it. And what did I find in there...but a postcard. Not just any postcard, oh no--a postcard from
cherelle_holmes. Who is my favorite fanartist. And she drew Heiji and Kazuha on it.
Now, normally I would glomp her silly. But she's due for back surgery soon, and I don't want to hurt her. So instead, I just want to say THANK YOU, CHERRY-CHAN!!! It's beautiful, and I love it! Thank you soooo much! I put it up on my wall so I can see it easily ♥♥♥
...thus ends my assault on your f-list. I'm going to find something to read online. Talk to you all later!
