candyland: (where's my burrito?)
So this marks the latest that I have slept in quite some time. I'm usually not much of a "sleeper-in" these days, if that makes sense. And that doesn't count me staying curled up in bed because I don't want to move just yet ^_~ I rolled out of bed at ten to ten.

...at this point, I'm sure several of you are rolling your eyes at me.

We had a storm last night, and it woke me up at four AM. I think I've said it before, but storms usually put me to sleep. Except the one last night had thunder that was shaking my walls. And the couple of power outages I had when I lived in my apartment have me a wee bit paranoid now, so I grabbed my flashlight kept looking out the window >_>;; Fortunately, nothing of the sort happened. But I was awake for almost an hour XD

A couple nights ago I did some shopping. I had a bunch of DVDs stacked on my dresser, and I wanted to reclaim that surface area. I also had a big mess near my bedroom door because all my shoes were still in a box. So I invested in a shoe rack--yay for being able to walk past my door without tripping!

And...well, I was looking for a DVD rack, but apparently they don't make them anymore. Or no one carries them. So I wound up with a shelf instead--it's actually a nice little shelf set, and it does the job. Just wish it wasn't such a pain to put together! *glares at the top shelf* You'd better stay level if you know what's good for you.

If the tracking website thingie is to be believed, my AlphaSmart should be here today. There are no words for how happy this makes me in my tar-blackened little heart~ :D :D :D I think I will become acquainted with it while I watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, which is now out on DVD ^______^

Still no contest results on [livejournal.com profile] kyodoroki... ;o;

I went home early from work yesterday. Sore throat, my chest was tight, I was dizzy...I still feel awful, really D: But at least I can walk around now without tottering and tipping over sideways. So that's good.

Note to self: Make a post about Lurker Day later today.

First, the good:

I GOT MY ALPHASMART! *happy happy backflip* I've already written a fic on it and started another, and it is GLORIOUS. I'm having to readjust once again to a flat, laptop-like keyboard, but other than that? It's wonderful. I absolutely adore it :D

More good:

I've mentioned [livejournal.com profile] autumnwrite a couple of times. Well, for [livejournal.com profile] summerwrite I found myself in the position of group leader for my group. It was actually kind of fun, so I offered to keep going on it for [livejournal.com profile] autumnwrite. So I am now heading up Group Three over on [livejournal.com profile] seasonwrite3!

One more good:

My room is a hell of a lot cleaner than it was yesterday.

The awesome:

I also mentioned LURKER DAY before, so here's the explanation for that~

Lurker Day is an unofficial holiday started by [livejournal.com profile] socchan. Lurkers are the people who read on journals and communities, but don't post or comment for whatever reason. And so Lurker Day is a day when lurkers are encouraged to come out and say hello! I really enjoy the day, and I usually try to do a fic post or something.

It's also a bi-annual event, taking place on September 2nd and March 2nd. So less than a week away!

The other awesome:

I work tomorrow, from eight to three. That's the usual. But then tomorrow night, [livejournal.com profile] kaitodoushi and I are getting together. We're doing dinner, and then by tomorrow afternoon I should be in possession of a copy of Psychonauts for the PS2, and we're going to play 8D And then my parents are going to the lakes with my aunt and uncle for the weekend, so I get the house to myself Friday and Saturday night \(^o^)/ YAYS!

And finally, the bad:

My mother got a call from my aunt last night. They're going to put Grandpa in hospice. He's ninety-four, he has dementia, and...well, his health is fading. So it looks like there's going to be some bad news in the family in the foreseeable future D:
