Watched the Princess Bride a couple days ago with my dad. That is an awesome movie :D

I have a new Best Work Story Ever. I didn't think it would be possible to top a few moments back in Chinese/Italian, or the lady a couple days ago who seemed to think that when I asked for her name, I meant the name of her medication (it took probably six or seven tries to get her to tell me her name, not her prescription).

It's around eighty-thirty or so, not too long before we close up shop. I'm at the back, pouring a liquid med into a bottle while the pharmacist/manager helps a lady at the front. Said lady has her son with her, a little boy who was maybe around two years old.

Then I hear it. The "hurk" sound, followed by a sort of quiet...splash. And then the crying started.

And then my manager is coming at me at top speed in a mad dash for the back, asking me to go up front and handle it because she can't do it. At this point, I already knew what I was in for, but I walked around and looked anyway.

The poor kid had thrown up all over himself, the counter, the floor, and our credit card reader.

Ignoring the fact that this brought back memories of college, I grabbed some gloves and the heavy-duty cleaner, which is called Spitfire. That stuff will take paint off a boat, and the smell is strong enough to cover up just about anything. I can handle vomit, so long as I'm not smelling it. Thankfully, the alcoholic smell of the Spitfire was able to mask that while I scrubbed.

...and then the poor mom asked if she could go grab some diapers and pay for them and use our bathroom because the poor kid had also managed to soil his diaper. I said yes and gave her a plastic bag for the diaper, and also one for the clothes. She'd called her husband to bring something clean for the kid to wear.

Eventually it all got cleaned up and they left, after apologizing numerous times. It was only after they left that we realized that between the vomit and the cleaner, the moisture had killed our credit card reader. When I left, one of the shift managers was trying to install the reader from an unused register onto our computer, and having no luck with it.

And my poor manager kept saying, "They're going to blame me!" I think she was leaving them a note.

So yes. Baby vomit made the last half-hour of my shift go by very, very quickly, yo z(^o^)-b

I stopped at GameStop today. According to the guy there, since I have a copy reserved, the second Layton game can be in my hands on August 25th. I will probably go there after work to get it, and shun all human interactions while I play it.

And tomorrow I have the day off. Am probably going to go to a movie with my sister (not sure which one yet), and try to get caught up on some writing stuff. Lurker Day is fast approaching!

All righty, tomorrow I need to ask one of my coworkers if she'll switch me shifts on August 20th. More to come on that if she says yes and super happy funtiemz become a go, whee! She's a really nice person, though, so I'm pretty sure she'll say yes.

I watched a couple episodes of Psych today with my sister, who has season one. I'd seen bits and pieces of it here and there before, usually during breakfast on Sunday mornings before I had to leave for work. I liked it well enough, but it's sort of a "Am I going to watch the rest of it?" It's funny, but the writing's not quite as snappy as, say, Bones.

We also watched the results show of America's Got Talent tonight. First five to the semi-finals. My mom and I have gotten really, really good at picking the ones who will go through, although every once in a while they manage to surprise us. We had it narrowed down to six for tonight. Turned out that the two we couldn't decide between were the ones the judges had to decide between ^^;;

Thought I'd give a little status update regarding fics, since I worked on them today:

- What You Wish For, ch. 7: 774 words
- A Perfect Act, ch. 3: 1794 words
- Song of the Wind, ch. 15: 473 words (IT'S A START!)

Also in progress is my next fandom for [livejournal.com profile] 100fandomhell.

...all righty, time to go take a quick shower and get to bed. Got work tomorrow, whoo! *crosses fingers*
