So. I'm alternating between unpacking and popping onto AIM.

Then I decide, "Eh, I'll take a break before I rustle myself up some dinner." So I go out to play my Gamecube. Luigi's Mansion is sort of dumb, but I'm rather addicted to it.

So I sit and play for a bit. Meanwhile, outside it is raining like crazy. It crosses my mind that the power could go out, but I sort of brush that idea aside, since we've had a couple of crazy storms over the last few days, and zero damage.

Guess what?

Power goes out.

There's darkness for about two seconds, and then everything comes back on.

Except my friggin' Gamecube. So I called GameStop, and she told me that yeah, it was probably fried.

At this point, I would like to add that I have owned said Gamecube for less than TWO FUCKING WEEKS.

Here's the total scenario: in the middle of a game, power goes out, power comes back on. Gamecube is plugged into power stripe with a surge protector, so even if there was a surge the thing should have shut off and NOTHING would have come back on--including the TV, which popped back in immediately with some nice static.

Can anyone think of a reason why a power outage would cause a Gamecube to fry? Or if there's anything I can do about it? I thought that maybe it was the power cord...but it might be kind of stupid to go get another power cord and bring it home and find out that it doesn't work. Or did the memory card scramble? In which case I go get another one...and start my games over. Which might make me cry, because the first dungeon on Windwaker was so frustrating that I almost quit the game.

And here I was having an awesome day--got internet and got to sleep in a little and was going to make myself a nice dinner and finish with these last couple of boxes and then get some more writing done--and I was in a great mood...now I'm really pissed off.
