candylandMy mom called me last night and told me that some of the family was planning to get together for lunch. It was going to be mom, my sister, two of my aunts, one uncle, and my grandfather, all meeting at Pizza Ranch.
I really didn't want to go out--the road condition has been very iffy lately. But my grandfather is almost ninety-four years old, and his health has been waning. And honestly, it still quietly bothers me that I didn't see my grandmother one more time before she died last year. So I agreed to go.
It was a two and a half hour drive to get there.
It was a THREE AND A QUARTER HOUR DRIVE to get home.
The wind picked up and started blowing snow all over the roads. It was near white-out conditions in a few places. It was a total nightmare trying to drive. I was, to say the least, scared to death. When I was stopped at a train crossing, I texted Mom (who was riding with my aunt)--sounds like it was the same for them.
But I made it home safely. All is well.
I'm working on making this scarf. It's a LOT easier than I thought it would be. Last night I tried making one of the flowers. So easy and so cute!

- Feb. 5: "And hold there is no sin but ignorance." [Unable to Understand]
- Feb. 6: "The justice of my quarrel." [Analysis of the Scene]
- Feb. 7: "Virtue is the fount whence honour springs." [Rejection]
- Feb. 8: "Accursed be he that first invented war." [Cornered]
- Feb. 9: "Yet let me kiss my lord before I die." [Missed Opportunities]
