Dec. 1st, 2005 07:00 pmYa know...I'm sitting here on the couches in the Cent Room with my friends. We just finished dinner, so our trays are still stacked on the table.
jewelsybear1017 and Kurt are on one couch, both with their laptops open, and
bionerd08 and I are on the other couch--I'm typing in here, and Steve's reviewing notecards for a bio test he's got tomorrow (poor kid). We've been down here for almost an hour and a half (we always come down and eat right after band gets out). We're just hanging out, talking about the most random crap (we had an in-depth conversation about nicknames), listening to music...
And right now, we're listening to Avenue Q, and I'm reminded of choir tour last year, when we went to Chicago. There were about ten or so of us in the back of the bus (my friends and I), and we burst into a rousing chorus of "The Internet is for Porn." Loudly. Like, at the top of our lungs. The entire bus is either staring at us like we're nuts, or laughing their asses off. Our director's husband was videotaping. And I belted my favorite line in the whole song, "Grab your dick and double-click for porn, porn, porn!!" Not long afterwards, most of us curled up in various places and took naps.
On bus trips, friends are people who will let you put your feet in their lap or let you lean against them or loan you a pillow/blanket or move to another seat or whatnot so you can sleep more comfortably. And I found that ALL my friends are great. I usually claim the aisle, though, for my bus-ride napping; it's easy to stretch out there and really get some sleep, if you're not worried the miniscule amount of dirt that might have gotten tracked on by people's shoes. And friends will make sure that nobody steps on you, and they'll wake you up in time to make yourself presentable before the next stop. I've been on both sides of that coin--the one sound asleep on the floor with a blanket over my head, and the one waking up the person asleep on the floor with a blanket over their head.
I really have the world's most awesome friends, ya know that? And it's not just the three I'm sitting with now. All of those who I know personally and see every day (or used to see everyday but can't now that we're in college in different cities/states), all the people I chat with online on a regular basis, the people I bounce emails back and forth with regularly (they get to see a lot of my rambling *laugh*), and everyone that might have somehow slipped through the cracks and not fit into the previously mentioned categories. *huggles everyone*
I sometimes really wonder what would have happened if I hadn't come to school here. Would I have met anyone even remotely like these crazy, fun people I know now? Would there be a Ryann, a Jewels, a Share, a Steve? And to turn to the online aspect of my social life, if I hadn't joined up on fanfiction.net, chances are I would never have met a lot of the people I chat with and email with, and I never would have become a part of that awesome community.
I know I don't say this enough, but you guys are amazing and awesome and absolutely wonderful. I am blessed that I know you, and I love each and every single one of you. From Kurt (who I just met in the last couple of months), to
msbbt, who I've known since kindergarten. Thanks, guys!!
Much love,
