First things first: you all want to make out with my icon. Admit it.

And yes, that is my best friend and myself rendered in sticks, based on an actual conversation the two of us had. I'm the brunette. No I am not blonde.

Unf unf~

So we went to the Weird Al concert on Tuesday, the culmination of our Father's Day gift to Daddy, who is a very big fan of Mr. Yankovic. We went to Chile's for dinner (Dad's choice). God, that fajita was good...and we actually got through the entire meal without a single argument. Considering my sister and I and how we can be sometimes...that's actually kind of amazing.

The concert itself? HOLY FOOKIN' SHIZ BATTON THE HATCHES WE'RE TAKING ON AWESOME.

We were fifth row, center aisle. Dad's all but deaf in one ear, and we were a little worried about him not being able to hear, even with his hearing aide. Needless to say, that was not an issue ^_~ The concert opened with a little video montage, and then a polka medley! He did a TON of songs, and changed costumes for almost every song.

At one point, he was down in the audience singing a song that consisted almost entirely of bad pick-up lines (which I adore), giving random women lap-dances. He did a song called "Why Does This Always Happen to Me?" that reminded me of my father (the first verse talks about a news bulletin interrupting the Simpsons, and Dad watches that show every single day after work). There was another medley of some of his older songs (Pretty Fly for a Rabbi, Eat It, Bedrock Anthem, Spiderman, etc.)

They linked everything together with these videos, called Al-TV, where he was spliced into interviews with stars like Madonna, Jessica Simpson, the Rolling Stones, Eminem, etc., so it looked like he was interviewing them. They were hilarious--especially the one near the end, where he went on this speech about how this person redefined the genre of hip-hop...and then burst out laughing. Camera pans over to Kevin Federline :D It really made for seamless transitions while he was changing costumes.

...AND HE DID "WHITE AND NERDY!" *fangirls* Came out on the segway and everything! It was unbelievable! There was another song I was actually hoping he would do. And I got my wish. They had an Al-TV clip...and then a line of Stormtroopers came out. With Darth Vader. And he did "The Saga Begins," one of my all-time favorites of his. EVERYONE was singing along. And then from there, he grabbed his accordian and started on the intro to one of DAD'S favorites, "Yoda."

He also did "Amish Paradise," which is just a fun one, and "You're Pitiful," during which he started in a parka and slacks and casually stripped until by the end of the song he was wearing fishnet stockings, heart-printed boxers, a pink tutu, and a Spongebob Squarepants T-shirt. He did a ton of songs, really. And the band was actually in costume for all of them, which just added to the fun when they got their little moments in the spotlight.

And I noticed that everyone was really singing along on his older songs, versus most of the newer ones. Yoda and The Saga Begins and Amish Paradise...everyone was singing along. The guy in front of me knew ALL the songs. I was sort of impressed ^^;;

And let's see, during the course of the concert...we got hit with streamers, fake money, water, and confetti :D

During one of the Al-TV segments, the singer (can't remember who it was) "agreed" to write a song with Weird Al. When asked for a profound lyric, he said something like, "Everyone has a cell phone, so come on, get real." At the end of the concert (after he did "Fat"), everyone was standing and cheering wildly and demanding an encore, so he came back out and said he would do one more song. So he started singing...

♫Everyone has a cell phone...so come on, get real...♪

And everyone in the audience whipped out their phones and started waving them in the air, like people used to do with lighters. I had mine out (and found I had text messages-- *SHOT*), and so did Bug and Dad. At the end, he asked everyone in the audience who had a phone to stand up and wave it around. Ninety percent of the audience was on their feet, waving tiny backlit screens in the air.

...AND THEN HE BUST INTO "ALBURQUERQUE!!" (I know I spelled that wrong...)

It was a wonderful concert, funny and highly entertaining. It was a wonderful night out as a family. And most importantly, Dad had a blast. He loved it :D

So then Wednesday, Kat and I wound up spending most of the day hanging out and playing Apollo Justice. We're on case four, and...well, when we stopped playing, we were at the start of the flashback. The part we have been completely dreading >_>;; Haaaaaaalp...

...on the other hand, it was worth it for Ema's impression of Kristoph (FREAKMEOUTWHYDONCHA) and for Klavier actually saying, "The jurors will act as a jury." NOWAI. As [profile] kaitodoushi put it, that's like saying that the lawyer will act as an attorney. WOW.

And then fun happenings at work. I went in on Thursday to haul the truck stuff in as usual. Got there a few minutes after eight. My thought processes were as follows: "Why aren't the pans put away? Why hasn't Italian been clean--WHY DON'T WE HAVE A WINDOW??"

Busted window. On the customer side of the Chinese hot-case. According to everyone who worked that night, it just broke. Of its own accord. Yikes. So Thursday was fun because we spent most of my shift serving out of the Kitchen, which was a nightmare ~_~ I had to stand there with nothing to do, waiting for someone to want Chinese. Ugh...

We were back in our own case before I left, though--just used the side that wasn't broken, and only put out the most popular entrees. Not ideal, but it worked, and we could be down in our own department.

They put the new glass in today, but there are still a couple of things that they want to fix on it before we're left alone again, so we have to be careful. [profile] kaitodoushi stayed late to work the night shift with me, yay! We sent poor New Kid down to be eaten alive by the Kitchen. Poor kid...he was so young, too...

Kat and I did a catering run, too! She drove the Big White Logo-ed House on Wheels! And I...err..offered moral support? :D? We dropped it off and came back, gone for maybe half an hour. Then got run down by half the city deciding O HAY CHINEEZ FUUD. Still managed to be out of there at a reasonable hour, though.

Tomorrow, I work again at eight-thirty-ish, until three. And then Dad's birthday party of SURPRISE-NESS. He turns sixty on August 11th. That's from four to eight. I'll probably be manning the food or something. No anti-social-ness for me, I guess~ *puts on Big Girl Pants*

...although I do hate cupcakes now. I baked and frosted ninety-six of the suckers today. 'Nuff said.

Also, broke 121K on [community profile] summerwrite. I have to write 934 words a day during August to make minimum. Wewt~

And now I go shower, put work-clothes in the dryer, and fall over. In that order if I'm lucky.
