My icon reflects my mood towards unexpected things taking up my evenings. This is why I haven't been online as much the last couple of days, also.
My cousin's husband's grandmother (whew!) passed away a few days ago, and the funeral was yesterday. I got a text message at work from my mother asking me if I was going to watch the girls or not--the girls would refer to their two daughters. A bit surprised, as I had not heard anything about it, I snuck to the back and called her from work. Turned out that a bunch of the family was getting together (much like we did when my grandfather passed away), and they needed someone to watch the girls.
Problem was that
kaitodoushi and I had slotted after work that day as our only available time to go run to the store for last-minute stuff for our trip. Mom said she'd watch them until I got home, and then asked if I'd get hot dogs and mac n' cheese and stuff to bring home for dinner.
So I wound up babysitting for a five-year-old and a two-year-old. They're so cute ♥ We played Pretty Pretty Princess (I won twice XD), and just when it seemed like things were starting to go a bit crazy, we had a breakthrough: we put on Anastasia and made a big bowl of popcorn. I sat 'em down on the couch with my big fleecy tie-blanket, and then we turned off the lights so it was like a movie theater. That calmed 'em down pretty good until Mommy and Daddy came to get them!
Then today I went in for work today, figuring it would be my usual ten to four shift (what I always work on Sundays), no big deal. Well, around noon-ish we got a phone call from the lady who was supposed to work with Kat tonight. Her car is still not functioning, and she lives a fair distance away. So my ten to four shift wound up being ten to 8:40 PM, when Kat and I clocked out. Yay for monies! And yay for Kat letting me gab on about Fatal Frame for a while. WE MUST PLAY IT. RESURRECTING GAME NIGHT FOR GREAT JUSTICE!
Two days until we take off for Illinois. Experience has taught me that when time permits, the best way to go about this is to do it early. So tomorrow night, I'm going to pack everything I can, save for the stuff I'll still need to function on Tuesday. That stuff will get packed up Tuesday night when I do a double-check.
Otherwise, Tuesday night I know I'm planning to shower and flat-iron my hair, and making sure everything is plugged in for one last charge before we go. I'm also debating about just sleeping in my clothes, since we'll be leaving REALLY early. Kat's coming over to stay the night for that reason as well. Ideally, we get almost everything in the car on Tuesday night. The less we have to try and remember on Wednesday morning, the better off we'll be, I think.
It's almost here, though! And lordy, I can't wait! I need this time off like you would not believe!
...AND NOW I SHALL END THE BORING~ *toodles off*
