Oh my!

Apparently, a lot happened last night. Aside from thekellylynn and I doing laundry, I mean.

Seems some guy was on one of the streets that runs through our college campus--drive-by shooting. The rumor mill is cranking away, so I'm not quite sure what exactly happened with that. But Kelly heard the gunshots, and I think I heard them through my music, pulled my headphones off, figured it was a car or something, and went back to my Corpse Bride soundtrack.

But now everything's all locked down. There are posters up and stuff, it was on the news, and there are some really freaked-out people on campus right now. I just figure that the guy's probably long gone. But I will carry my ID to let me into the building after six, and I will refrain from frolicking around after dark. Not that I usually do, but you know what I mean.

I'm curling up in bed now. I get to sleep in until eight AM tomorrow. SQUEE!!

That's so scary! Honestly, I'm the sort of person that would be afraid to leave my dorm ^^; But that's just paranoid lil me.

Geesh! I didn't even hear about it! I figure by local you meant SC local b/c you're the viewing area & stuff, so I dunno what I've been watching on TV, but evidnetly not the news!

It was on the ten o'clock news last night--I saw that. I think my dad said he saw it on the earlier news as well. *shrug* Dunno. Not worrying.

I remember living in a suburb of LA during the Riots, in 88-89...that was crazy, i was either driven to school or walked to school every day, and the same for coming home. We didn't go anywhere alone, especially after my dad encountering a riot on the way to work...but i'll tell you that story later

heres the story
my dad drove a red toyota supra, 86 model, manual transmission
he was getting off the LA freeway, driving into town. He slowed down to 4th gear, still going about 45. A little bit ahead on the street, some guy jumped out with a gun and pointed it straight at my dad. My dad merely reclined his seat a bit, making his head less of a target. He then dropped into 3rd gear and florred it. Once the guy figured out my dad wasn't stopping...this was about 15 feet away from hitting him...he finally jumped out of the way...
