I've learned something today: State Troopers are my friends. I learned this today on my way home from observation. The reason why I know this? Because one of them was so kind as to let me sit in his nice warm car while I watched the tow truck pull my vehicle from the nice, snowy ditch.

See, it snowed today. Lots. Came out of nowhere, and accumulated pretty fast. School day wrapped up, and I was on my way back to campus. I was going about forty, forty-five-ish down the highway when all of a sudden, there was this curve in the road right ahead of me.

I pressed the brake to slow down a bit. Nothing happened. I turned the wheel. Nothing happened. At this point, I was on the shoulder and still moving. So I grabbed on for dear life (I was wearing my seatbelt, BTW). I don't think I screamed...but I remember thinking that the car was going to flip over and I was going to die. But no, instead I end up staring at a whole lotta white stuff, clutching the steering wheel in a panic, hearing my RENT soundtrack playing "Today 4 U" from where my laptop was sort of dumped into the foot area of the passenger seat...

Well, I sat there for a bit, trying to make my heart stop hammering and my hands stop shaking. Then, upon discovering that my car was not going to move forwards or backwards of its own volition, I dug my cell phone out and tried to call 911 for some help. Well, no one answered. Made me feel a lot better about my situation.

Then I glance in my rearview mirror, trying to figure out what to do, and there's a pick-up truck there, with a guy getting out of it and calling out to ask if I was okay. I clambored out and let him know I was all right. He asked if I needed a ride somewhere. We were about five minutes drive away from campus, so I weighed my options and said okay. But before we actually left, up pulls a State Trooper, so I thanked the guy and he left. State Trooper radios for a tow truck, and then we hung out in his car and chatted for a while. Nice guy.

The tow truck came, they hauled my car out, I am now sixty-five dollars lighter, but as far as "crashes" go, that was a pretty clean one. I went in nose-first, straight into a snowbank. The snow cushioned my car, so there was no damage, and I was really shaken and really freaked, but unharmed. So once my car was out, I got in and drove back to campus. Went about thirty the entire way back. The people behind me were probably ready to kill me.

But I made it back safely, the car's fine. Have not yet decided whether or not I should inform the parents of this little "incident." But thus ends my Horror Story of Evil. Guess I'll have quite a tale to share with my co-op and the others at lunch tomorrow, huh?

Much love,
~ Candy-chan #^^#

Geez, and I thought I had a horror story!! O___O;; That's so scary! That's why you have to be uber careful driving in snow, though, even though it's sounds like you were being safer than most people before it happened. That's why my parents refuse to do drive in bad weather XD I'm glad everything's fine though, and the only damage was to your money ^^. And yay for seatbelts!

Yeah, I know. While I was sitting in the Trooper's car, the radio was going nuts with reports of people going into ditches all over the place. One even said that someone had wound up on a fence. He then turned to me with a smile and said, "That person was going a helluva lot faster than you were."

So yeah, we're all right. But that's why I said my horror story was on a ground level. Besides, gave me an enlightening tale to share over dinner ^^

The scariest part was when I kept seeing these mental images of cars flipping over, and I thought I wasn't going to see my mom again. Sounds melodramatic, but that's honestly what I was thinking.

It worked out, though. I was lucky, and I appreciate that #^^# It's okay.

Yup, I got pretty lucky, and I'm thankful for that. But I'm a-okay, and I'm already kind of laughing about it. Was trying to be carefully, but still got caught up. Could've been worse, though. It's all good #^^#

Glad to hear that you made it out fine. Everyone deserves a non injerous car accident. Or what the heck in you case, I hope all your car accidents are as good as this one.

Thank you very much :) May everyone have that kind of luck--or be lucky enough to not go off the road in the first place. I appreciate the concern and the kind words!

Actually that was LJ being weird on my part. I signed in, went to my friends page, read this, went to type my comment, and then it didn't register me as signed in, and I didn't notice I wasn't signed in till after It was sent.
But the sentament is still the same. Stay safe Candy-chan.

Glad you are ok...that is what matters most...as for telling the parental units...probably not would be best right away...i know my parents would freak.
been there done that...i remember when I was coming into town from USD/vermillion with a few friends. My friend/his gf. We were driving into town from the highway and it was very icy...we were going about 55mph...the speed limit...and we missed our turn, he began to press the brakes and we started to slow...then we hit the black ice and spun at about 45 miles per hour...he was able to pull out after the 3rd spin...but yeah...we were pretty shaken up...we proceeded to drive slowly to my parents. When we got there...Jess, my friends girlfriend knelt down and kissed the ground...glad to be safe. Nick and I about shat ourselves...going 40+with no control...but we're glad we're ok...so I know how you feel.
and yes i've buried my own car in a snowbank before

My heart was going like a jackhammer, and I was shaking so hard I couldn't even get my car door open. It's not a fun experience. So now tomorrow I'll drive to school going about thirty...might get there a little late ^^;;

I think I'll leave the parents in the dark about this. No point in worrying them when everything's fine. It's handled. No sense in furthering it. Luv!

Oh, and irony of ironies, I'm getting into this anime called Loki Ragnarok. It's all based loosely on Norse mythology, and we're just meeting Freya *does happy dances* Hope you're well. Much love #^^#

...actually, I learned the lyrics to the Llama Song all by myself!! Looked it up after hearing all the P-Dub RAs singing it. But you hooked me up with the Badger Song!

I like the State Trooper because he let me sit in his nice warm car, as opposed to me standing outside in the knee-dip snow and freezing winds ^^

Glad you're OK

Hey, I had a scary drive home from Poky yesterday, where is your participation? I did about 3 180's on Highway 3 about 7 miles east of Highway 71. I was scared... I, too, thought I would flip and die. I kept looking for oncoming traffic, from either in front or behind. I still don't know how I kept control of the T-Bird. Damn I was sca-red. I called Sara freaking out when I finally stopped shaking, about the time I was going south on 71. Glad you're OK, I woulda been sad!

I'm in Holstein. After I wound up in the ditch, I was staring at my cell phone numbers, looking for someone to call...argh!! I'm glad you're okay, though, too. And hey--someone on the trooper's radio wound up on a fence. So I got off relatively easy. Much love #^^#

When you finally get a speeding ticket, I am going to throw a freakin' party! And I was only in the trooper's car because it was warm and mine was sort of half-buried in a snowbank ~.~;; But yup, I'm fine. Was funny to tell the other teachers at my school about it, though. One of them absolutely freaked and went all motherly on me--it was sort of nice to know that they're willing to worry about me ^^
