Piccies!!!

So, we had a massive snowfall in December, and a few of my pals and I went out to play in it. I've had these pics laying around on my lappy-top for quite a while since then, and because I am in class, uber-bored, and recently learned to post pics on here, I'm going to toss them up here for everyone's viewing enjoyment.

Some of these pics aren't totally clear because it was, in fact, snowing. But I know a few of you don't live in places were you gets lots of snow--this is how some of us Iowa folks handle snow!! Be warned, there are quite a few of them...

This is how deep the snow was in one place. That's my foot, in the snowbank halfway up to my knee.

That's Curtis. He climbed up on a retaining wall and jumped backwards into the snow and demanded that we take a picture.

Image hosting by Photobucket
A picture of moi. I tossed my camera to Kali and face-planted.

Image hosting by Photobucket
Can you see Curtis out there? He's running in the snow...

Image hosting by Photobucket
...and there's Curtis again, sliding down the street on his back...

Image hosting by Photobucket
...and now he's coming back inside to put his coat back on. Everyone who asked if it's cold here--yes, it is. But we don't let it stop us from finding new, sometimes hazardous ways to have fun in winter!!

A snow-covered fire hydrant. Just because.

Jewels ([livejournal.com profile] jewelsybear1017 took a dive into the snow!

Curtis and Kali wading through it. Snow getting up (or down) your pants is not fun.

It just hit me that I look reeeeeeeeally weird in that pic. Part of that's because my hair's all up inside my hat. I love that hat, I truly do. But yeah, almost up to my waist. Walking was fun!

Image hosting by Photobucket
I've fallen and I can't get up...literally. I fell over, and I could not get enough of a footing to get up. I just kind of rolled around for a while, and Jewels stood on the stairs and took a picture. We also have a pic of the trench I made when I rolled halfway down the hill to escape. Gave Jewels and I both a really good laugh.

Isn't it beautiful? Falling snow is really pretty--unless you're driving in it and go in a ditch *grumbles*

Curtis, Jewels, and Kali all stand behind the ginormous snowdrift.

Work it, Kali!

Image hosting by Photobucket
Curtis' beautiful face. He wanted a picture of the snow in his goatee. Isn't he pretty? =P

My turn to stand in the waist-high snow drift!! It took me a minute to get out of it, but I made it. And my head still looks weird. But I really didn't want to mess with my hair in my face, so I yanked it back.

If you look right in the center of the photo, you should be able to see me rolling down the hill. Yes, in the snow. And ya know what? It was crazy fun!! BTW, just so you know, frozen jeans make a really cool sound! We went inside, thawed out for a minute...and then trekked over to another dorm, and everything refroze on the way over there. My jeans froze, and made the coolest swishy sound when they rubbed together as I walked!

And now we're in January, and the weather can't make up its freakin' mind. It's been sunny and up in the fifties, raining and in the thirties/forties, snowing and in the twenties...and within the space of one weekend. Kid. You. Not. Friday and Saturday we were all outside without jackets, Saturday [livejournal.com profile] ladyerisnos and I went walking in the rain, and Sunday we were staring at the enormous snowflakes floating past our windows. And today it is sunny once again. Let's see what happens there, ne?

Much love,
~ Candy-chan ^_^

ZOMG, fellow Iowan O_O *latches onto*

A while ago I decided that the weather must be controlled by either a teenager or a five year old with ADHD. Also, come spring I will completely deny ever having thought driving in the snow was fun. For now, though...

Ohmigod, neat--I didn't notice you were from Iowa!!

And I agree wholeheartedly--the weather has been so screwy lately!! Sun to rain to snow to sun again...to say nothing of freak snowfalls that send innocent college kids careening into ditches...further proof that Mother Nature gets PMS...

^___^ What part of Iowa are you from, if I might ask? And which college and so forth?

To quote the masses: if you don't like the weather in Iowa, just wait ten minutes. You know, I think I like that idea better... *steals it*

Not at all! I'm from northwestern Iowa--lived in Sioux City for most of my life, now a junior at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. It's not much, but it's home ^_^ Would you mind if I asked what part of IA you hail from?

It's funny--I tried to explain the weather here to a friend from Texas. He didn't believe that it could change that fast. About the only thing we haven't had this month is monsoons...not that I'm asking for that *grabs umbrella and hides*

Iowa City, born and bred ^_^ So sheltered and liberal are we that the kids raised here think the rest of Iowa is the same ^^; Currently attending the local Kirkwood center as a freshmen.

XD I'll bet some of those conversations are interesting. My mom's mainly from Texas and we still have family there so I know their weather is more stable, but still. *knocks on wood*
