Our first actual writing assignment in class. Most everyone has heard of haiku and the whole five-seven-five thing. But actually, senryu is the same basic thing, except haiku deals with nature and seasons and such, and senryu talks more about people, and are often humorous. Mine are more along the lines of senryu. Most poems like this don't have titles, but I named mine anyway ^_^

I. Okatu's Lament
Big eyes and small mouth
Speaking fast in Japanese
Subs are too damn small!

II. English Class Watcher
The pink-haired Troll doll
Is watching me—a blanket!
Voila! Problem solved!

III. Nighttime Menace
Sneaking in and out
Away with a quiet “Arrrrrr…”
Stealth ninja-pirates

IV. Scene from a Winter Afternoon
Snow drifting softly
White flakes carried on wind—crash!
Right into the ditch

V. "Arwen"
Fate made us sisters
Younger you, to older me
Life has made us friends
Note: Actual title was my sister's first name, but it's not my place to be giving that out online ^_^

VI. RA's Lament
Two AM wake up
Beer can thrown against my door
I go back to sleep

VII. College
I love beef ramen
Quick, easy, and tasty, too
My wallet’s empty

VIII. Gourmet
Burgers, fries, and pop
Never anything I like
Scuvery eating

IX. Autumn Storm
Patter patter pat
Nature’s tears against the glass
Lulls me right to sleep

X. Ode to a Band Nerd
‘Tis God’s instrument
Silver-belled euphonium
Sexy back-row love

Very cool, man. Just now I felt like I should be in a dim coffee shop in all black, wearing a beret.

Right on. That just speaks to the inner-depths of my soul.

I shall now paint a square and call it "The Depths of My Anguish..." I'm all about modern art and poetry and such, but some of it's kinda silly, really...

III came from something my prof said--she said she wanted to see one with pirates. And while I was counting my syllables, I was thinking about our "fake memories" post war on here. It just made me laugh ^__^

For some reason...

I like the band nerd poem... I don't know about how the back row loves each other, but if I had any musical talent, I'd be a band nerd (-:
