So
writergurl is, like, unto a goddess. She has given me icon-age!! Massive luvs!!

In other news, watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Much lurv to the Italians--it was a beautiful show! I was especially impressed by the part where they had an overhead view of probably a couple hundred people in different-colored ponchos standing in the shape of a person skiing. That was amazing. And Matt and I had a really good laugh because almost the entire Parade of Nations was accompanied by the best of the 70's. I can sort of understand them playing "We Are Family," but I'm still lost as to where "I Will Survive" and "Freak Out" came from...and don't get me started on "YMCA," that was just weird!
Looking forward to the games, though. I'm one of those people who turns it on in the background, and then snaps to attention when something comes on that I'm interested in really watching. I've always loved the figure skating--part of that comes from the fact that before I was anything, I was a dancer, and then there's the musical aspect of it as well. And in recent years, I've discovered that I enjoy watching the different skiing events as well. So yeah, should be interesting!
Oh yeah--anyone familiar with something called reiki? It's a therapy technique involving finding the blockages in energies and pulling those blockages out. I experienced it today from the patient's end, and wow. Just wow. When she finished, I opened my eyes, and my hair was hanging in my face, so I thought I'd push it back behind my ears...except it took about thirty seconds and several tries before I could actually lift my arms high enough to do it, they felt so heavy. My lower legs felt like lead, it took a while before I could stand up. And I felt so relaxed and so very calm. I sort of drifted out of the office--half my body was numb, and the other half felt like it weighed a ton. It was surreal...and it was actually really cool.
On duty, so will be up until two. Joyful. And tomorrow, I'm off to a show choir competition to see my sister perform. Get to spend the day with my mommy--YAY!!! Much love, all ^_^

Date: 2006-02-11 01:55 pm (UTC)I was really distracted at our Friday meeting, so she asked how I felt about "alternative" stuff, and that's what I ended getting. It was incredibly surreal...wouldn't mind doing that again. But yeah, that's why ^_^

Date: 2006-02-11 07:47 pm (UTC)Ooh, not tried reiki before- but I have a friend that does pressure-point stress relief for me sometimes (I get horrible chest pains due to anixety/stress) and it's amazing what it can do. Alternate-methods are usually my prefered ones since I'm not big on doctors/medicine unless it's extremely serious ^^;

Date: 2006-02-12 04:48 am (UTC)I think I'm just a naturally tense person--it's a well-known fact that if a person really wanted to sedate me, all they have to do is give me a really good backrub, and I will not resist. I'm all about alternative methods, though--sometimes, they really work wonders ^_^
