Computer woes *grrrrr...*
May. 4th, 2006 09:55 amATTN: People I chat with and/or annoy on a regular basis via MSN and AIM
Our campus net has been really weird lately. My connection had been more or less okay, but there were some problems. So when our campus computer center, 2FUX (I mean, 2FIX), sent out a patch that they said would fix the problems, I thought to myself, "Aww, what the hell? Let's get my internet all fixed!"
Revelation: NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.
Wound up sitting in 2FIX for nearly half an hour, waiting in line with half the campus to get my connection BACK. Yes, their lovely little patch eradicated my wireless connection. The best part was when a couple of the techs were talking about how they'd told the head guy that the patch didn't work, and it got sent out anyway. God bless stupidity, so long as it's not.
Well, I've got my internet back, but...with bugs. So if I'm chatting with any of you lurvly people, and alluva sudden I vanish from the face of the internet, do not be alarmed, I will most likely return shortly. It probably means that my connection went 'splody, and I have to put my comp into standby and then wake it back up. That usually fixes the connection, for some reason.
