A philosophical question...

I pose this philosophical question to my fellow Conan fans, and I'm looking forward to the responses. So here is my thought: Conan is seven years old in body, but seventeen years old in mind, right?

...so how do age of consent laws apply in this situation?

Because my understanding of such laws (and I could be wrong) is that they are to protect those who are not emotionally ready to have sex. But if he's mentally and emotionally seventeen, then by law he's technically old enough. As I asked jeva_chan, wouldn't you just love to be the judge in that particular trial? "It's not child molestation, your honor! He's of age!" *headdesks*

...now, here's the bad part: in Movie 1, when Ayumi was acting a little lovey-dovey towards Conan in front of Kogoro, Kogoro was all like, "You little lady-killer." And though Ran is really the one raising Conan, I think Kogoro would technically be his guardian... >_0

In Iowa, I believe it's sixteen >.> And quite frankly, by the way some of the things in this fandom happen, it doesn't seem like people care whether they're 'old enough' or not...not that we'd know anything about such things, of course *innocent face*
