Steve Irwin--the Crocodile Hunter--is dead. A stingray barb went through his chest while he was swimming and filming an underwater documentary.

...damn.

Only watched him a few times, but...damn.

I think I got out everything I really wanted to say in my LJ post about it. I watched him a lot, and he was amazing. This is a very sad blow for the animal-loving community. R.I.P.

I just found out, like, now; a friend told me in IM. Oddly enough, it seems like a way the Crocodile Hunter would want to go.

For him and all those who died in tragic accidents: Dona eis requiem aeternam; grant them eternal rest.

I used to watch his show every morning during high school. It makes me really sad to think about it. I thought he was invincible . . .

It's kinda wrong.
I mean he was with all those other wild animal but a gelatinous creature was the one that got him.
*Deals with death in any form badly so - you know the pool going on in the animal kingdom on this must have been seriously ruined.*

With all due respect I hope his family survives this blow and that he rest in peace.

Candy-chan, please, please, please tell me you're joking, 'cause I just laughed my head off, y if you're not I'm gonna feel really bad. ><

On the other hand, though (the one that finds this so amusing), irony really is a...well, you know how it goes.

I saw it when I was checking my mail but I blew it off and went to check more mail then I actually read the article. I never watched him but I still had major props for what he did seeing as I'm big chicken.

Um...I'm not quite that sympathetic. He did dangerous things; I can't say I'm surprised that he died. My feelings are along the lines of "you live by the sword, you die by the sword." I do hope that it was quick. I feel sad for his family. He has two little kids. That's going to be hard on them.
