Avast! ...or something ~.~
Sep. 19th, 2006 01:29 pmArrr, today be Talk Like a Pirate Day!
...loving the "Update Captain's Log." Most awesome of you, El-Jay. Most awesome, indeed ♥ And did anyone else notice that the LJ person icon (the one beside your handle, a la
candy__chan is wearing an eyepatch? ♥♥♥
The last couple of days...gah, it's been like a merry-go-round, all ups and downs and ups and downs. I'm either at a really high point...or I'm bottoming out. Last night...yeah.
Went to practice piano for an hour--GOOD! Got the crap scared out of me--BAD. Late night taco-run with
jewelsybear1017--GOOD! Chatting upon return...not bad, but...yeah. Why did I freak out about that? It really had nothing to do with me, but I sat there and cried. God, I felt so stupid, and I'm pretty sure I was making someone else feel bad because I couldn't get an effin' grip. Way to go...such an idiot.
And thus far, today has been more of the same. I got to sleep in...but when I did wake up, I felt sick to my stomach and could barely move. Took an awesome shower--I have new berry-scented shampoo, and I love the way it smells. I headed out to go eat...and found that it's colder than it was yesterday. Then I went to pick up a package--I got new DVDs! And then I went to my voice lesson. The lesson itself went pretty well, but then I got a lecture about how I should care more and on and on...and I don't have a clue what she's talking about. She says I'm not replying to her emails--but I haven't gotten a single email from her since school started. *headdesks* But yeah, got out of there late enough that I couldn't swing down to get myself something to eat, so I'm hungry.
And now I'm in Visual Basic, the most boring class in existence...but the sub's got these little Microsoft Wizard agents popping all over the otherwise-boring PowerPoint, and they're kind of cute and they're making us giggle--and I'm actually looking up at the slides once in a while! Can't follow this guy to save my soul, but I'm paying a little bit of attention!
Still gotta get through choir--solo auditions today. And then we have a staff meeting tonight at six-thirty. I don't understand why we absolutely have to have two-hour staff meetings. Last year, we set an all-time record for shortest staff meeting: seven minutes. I'm also a little iffy on the whole "staff bonding" thing. We spent two weeks joined at the hip for training--if we didn't bond then, we're not going to. And forcing the issue won't help, because I suspect from things said at the last meeting that I'm not the only one who kind of chafes at being forced to "bond." That's not bonding--that's BS-ing.
...okay. Enough whining. *smacks self in forehead* Get a grip, kid...
EDIT: Okay, and now my sister has even managed to ruin Talk Like a Pirate Day for me. Apparently, she isn't happy unless she has ruined that which is joyful for me. Fuck.

Date: 2006-09-20 05:02 pm (UTC)Reasons why Picard is better than Kirk...
Date: 2006-09-21 01:25 am (UTC)Picard discovers new life, new civilizations and strange new worlds, not discarded movie sets from period 1950's dramas.
Three words: seven whole seasons.
One question: to which Captain would you entrust the safety of your daughter?
Picard can act out entire Shakespearean plays, not merely remember 1 or 2 lines.
Picard is far too cool to beam down to a planet, strip to his waist and wrestle with some guy in a rubber lizard suit. He lets his First Officer do all that for him.
Kirk probably thinks a concerto is a kind of ice cream dessert.
While Kirk did make most of the decisions aboard his ship, this was only because advice from his crew was almost exclusively limited to "That's illogical Captain", "It's worse than that, he's dead, Jim", "It's life, but not as we know it..." and "Klingons on the starboard bow." Small wonder really.

And a certain someone says that you are not whining and that she will bonk you or not continue a certain chat about Kaito and Aoko *which I'd really like to read once done* so - uh - yeah.
(If I missed anything blame me I'm a bad messenger.)

Hope this finds ye in good health. And if not, let's find us some grog to make us forget our troubles, whatever they maybe... Or considering the quality of Grog I get maybe forget the world for a day or three.
