Happiness is...
Oct. 3rd, 2006 02:26 pmHappiness is...being just shy of twenty-one years old, and discovering that while you are too old for many things, you are never to old to finger-paint. Or foot-paint, as the case may be.
It's Homecoming Week, and the theme this year is "Back when Barbie and G.I. Joe were cool!" In other words, the joys and toys of our childhoods #^^# My floor's theme is Cabbage Patch Kids--of which I had a few when I was a youngster. Other themes include Slinkies, Monopoly, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (another favorite of mine), and Rescue Rangers (*hearts*) We were doing the banner decorating contest--which didn't necessarily require us to use our specific theme.
Well, first we painted our two house names on there--Athena and Biermann (my brother floor)--by printing letters off on the press in the Supply Room, taping them to the banner (half a bedsheet), and painting over them. It came out pretty cool, actually! And we'd decided that our slogan was going to be "Kickin' It Old School!"
After finishing up the letters on our house names, we realized that neither of us had any artistic abilities. So we came to the conclusion that if this was supposed to represent our first-grade selves, then we'd make it look like a first grader did it. And so we started finger-painting. I did the slogan, while my brother RA wrote a bunch of toys on there. And then we decided that because our slogan was "Kickin' It Old School," we should have feet.
So I kicked off my flip-flops, rolled up my jeans, grabbed a paintbrush, and hopped on the table. I painted the bottom of my foot bright green, and then pressed my foot down on the banner to make a footprint =D It actually really worked well--and three different people asked me why I was sitting on the table. I did about three of them (green, red, and blue) before I realized that I had five minutes to get to my uber-important student teaching meeting.
I got more strange looks as I hopped on one foot across the GSLC to the suppy room, which has a sink. I quickly scrubbed most of the paint off my foot, and ran to my meeting. My toes are still a strange blue-green-red color, but I can deal with that. Besides, it put me in a good mood for the rest of today...which is promising to be a long day. I also snuck back to check on the banner completion before voice--my brother RA had painted his shoe and used that as a stamp for further footprints. It looks pretty nifty--I'll take a picture later and post it, 'cause the banner's hanging in my hallway.
Happiness is...watching a movie with friends. I watched The Lakehouse with Jewels, Ashley, and Kali last night--decent movie. Our commentary included such joyful moments as yelping, "NOOOOOOO!! DON'T GET HIT BY THE BUS, YOU IDIOT!!" or during the final romantic moment as they walk towards each other, me commenting, "Wow...that's a really long driveway--they're never gonna get to each other." At which point Kali told me I was going to hell ♥ We also played with an online Lite-Brite and online alphabet magnets, which is more fun if you play with friends--except for
ashleymouse, who thinks it's funny to hog all the O's *bonks her*
Happiness is...finding out that I didn't totally fail my Visual Basic test from last week. I was a little below the class average, but still snugly within the C range. And that's really good enough for me, 'cause I just want to be done with it ~.~;;
Happiness is...having friends who will give me tissues because I have a cold (again *growls at sinuses*) and I ran out after my last cold. Seriously--Ashley, Jewels, I owe you two my firstborn child...and a new box o' tissues each =P
Happiness is...Dayquil. 'Nuff said.

Date: 2006-10-04 02:41 pm (UTC)I'm also a Sandra Bullock fan (Miss Congeniality, While You Were Sleeping...the woman has made some awesome movies), so that was another point in the movie's favor for me #^^#
But to me, Keanu Reeves will always be Ted Logan from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Another movie that's so near and dear to my tar-blackened little heart...
