Hiya, me again ^_^

Well, I worked tonight. Nothing major there. But I came home in time to catch about the top twenty of AFI's top hundred movie songs.

My family and I love these AFI things, and we like to watch them together. And my sister and I always take turns writing down the titles or actors or whatever, so we can go back and review and give our thoughts on it afterwards.

Last time was heroes and villains. I did the bookkeeping then. We'd called a bunch of them, except we weren't quite sure who the top hero would be. We figured Indiana Jones--but he turned out to be number two. So we were all confuzzled. But my mom called the number one villain--I mean, who else but Hannibal Lector was worthy of that title? He's deliciously evil! But then they showed a clip of Gregory Peck, and I jumped up screaming, "Atticus!" As in, Atticus Finch, from To Kill a Mockingbird. Fabulous movie.

But anyway, I'd already missed the discussion, so I just asked my mom what they were thinking, and she said they thought 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' would be number one. I could see that. Then I asked to see the list, and I was quite pleased to see several Disney songs on there. I've always enjoyed Disney music, mostly because they've rarely let me down. They just tend to have pretty damn good music.

But anyway, I said I was surprised that they hadn't had Singin' in the Rain on there--the title song, I mean. Well, we keep watching (I'm ashamed to admit that we had totally forgotten to guess 'When You Wish Upon a Star,' which I believe was number seven.) And sure enough, 'Singin' in the Rain' was number three, 'As Time Goes By' was number two, and just as my mother called it, 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' was number one. I'll agree with that--even though I actually like 'As Time Goes By' better as a song.

What can I say? I just love these things. And it's always interesting to see if you can guess who'll make the cut. I don't know...my family and I have gotten pretty good at guessing who'll be on the list, if not always putting them in the right spot. For instance, I pegged 'Casablanca' as the most passionate movie (top hundred romances, pretty much), while my mom and sister swore it would be 'Gone with the Wind,' which got number two.

And so friends, I leave you with the number two song, simply because it's a song I love, and a song that I think says a lot. Goodnight.

You must remember this,
a kiss is still a kiss,
A sigh is just a sigh,
The fundamental things apply,
as time goes by.

And when two lovers woo,
they still say "I love you,"
on that you can rely,
No matter what the future brings,
as time goes by.

Moonlight and love songs,
never out of date,
Hearts full of passion,
jealousy and hate,
Woman needs man, and man must have his mate,
there's no one can deny.

It's still the same old story,
a fight for love and glory,
A case of do or die,
The world will always welcome lovers,
as time goes by.
