Gobbly gobbly gobbly...

Every year, Jerry the Band Director dismisses us from our last rehearsal before Thanksgiving break with the instructions, "Go home, rest, and come back having gained at least five pounds." I'm pretty I did =D Mommy outdid herself this year--it was DELICIOUS! So much food...so much wonderful, wonderful food!
We ate at about two o'clock this afternoon. It's now twenty to nine. I'm thinking I might go make myself a turkey sandwich. WHY AM I HUNGRY AGAIN?? *stabs stomach
Oh oh oh, and I finally got to see the Conan live-action drama. I've had it for a few days, but I haven't had time to actually watch it. Pretty sure I was fangirling like crazy over the Shin/Ran moments. Utter, utter sweetness ♥ A few things were kind of dumb, but overall? Pretty pleased =D
And it's official--I've been plagiarized from. An author named Li Ping on ff-dot-net has been taking fics (mostly from

The dumb thing is that it wouldn't have bothered me so much if they'd even just slapped my name on there as the original author. I've had people ask if they can translate a few of my stories, and I always say yes with two conditions: A) credit me as the original author, and B) send me a link to where you post them so I can see what they look like in a different language. I just think it's kinda cool. This...gah. RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION!
*bows* That is all...for now. *goes to make a sandwich*

Date: 2006-11-24 03:03 am (UTC)there is still like 3/4 left of a bowl of mashed potatoes in the kitchen that i will devour in 30 minooooooo.....i sooooooo want to see the live action conan!
and i was worried that you were plagarized when i saw the report on

Date: 2006-11-24 04:45 am (UTC)For the most part, it's good and I liked it ♥
Yup, I was one of them. I saw one story posted, and then I went back and looked again, and there was the second one. It's infuriating...I knew for certain that they were mine because my friend plugged a paragraph into freetranslation and read it, and it was more or less a match of what I wrote D:< It's been reported, though.

Date: 2006-11-24 04:38 am (UTC)Yay food! X3 Happy Thanksgiving!
What I didn't like about the drama was when they'd introduce more cartoony elements, like Ran punching the wall and it cracking. XD I don't think that sort of thing has much place in live-action stuff, unless it's a screwball comedy or something.

Date: 2006-11-24 04:50 am (UTC)This author also took one from a 10-theme comm, I can't remember which one. Did the exact same thing with it--translated and posted it without credit to the original author. It's been reported--not much else to be done.
That was kind of the thing that bugged me about it--some of the visual effects were kind of silly. I gotta admit that when it got to the end and Shinichi was saving the day, I even said out loud, "That is ridiculous." But I liked the plot and I looooooooved the Shin/Ran interaction. Because I am an utterly hopeless fangirl like that ♥

Date: 2006-11-24 04:55 am (UTC)**nods.** The way the day was saved was kinda silly as well. I guess several things about DC would look rather ridiculous in something live action. It makes me wonder what a live-action YGO would be like....

Date: 2006-11-24 03:56 pm (UTC)The plot was good, the acting was pretty good (he had Shinichi's pouty!face down pat, I thought)...it was just those couple of wonky little visual effects. But overall, love. *pets Shinichi and Ran*
Live-action Yu-Gi-Oh...oh Lordy, I'm not even going to try and figure out how they'd get the hairdos right, for starters...

Date: 2006-11-24 10:36 pm (UTC)...and I noticed that you were talking about a german fanfic thief. That caught my attention.^^;
Have you reported him or probably her on ff.net and nowhere else? Because the biggest german fanfic archive is at Animexx.de and it was not that surprising for me to find your fics right there as well. Someone already recognized your stories and threatened her to report the fics as it is written in a comment, but it doesn't seem to have been done by the time.
I just thought you'd like to know...?^^;
By the way, if you want me to report these fics as you obviously do not speak german, just tell me and I would drop the fanfic administrator a line or two. I can fully understand that you're feeling quite bad since I had a similar experience about some months ago...>_< *kicks the fanfic thieves right in their a**e*
By the way, I hope my english is not that bad as I expect it to be right now, it's just that it's getting late.=__=

Date: 2006-11-25 05:32 am (UTC)I'm aware of AnimeXX (some great fanart on there!), but I was not aware that these were being cross-posted there, no. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention--I passed the link onto Lightbird as well, since I think those were her Mulan fics on there.
...if you wouldn't mind dropping a line to the site admins, I would greatly appreciate it. I know precious little German ^^;; This whole situation is very frustrating and saddening...especially because if the person/people in question had asked, I would have said yes and there would have been no issue.
Your English is excellent--I wish I was smart enough to speak two languages fluently =D

Date: 2006-11-25 08:33 am (UTC)I sent a mail to the admin a few minutes ago, I'm waiting for her answer now. And you may find this interesting that Chen/Chen06/Li Ping seemed to have uploaded your fics on every big german fanfiction archive, since I found "The View" on Fanfiktion.de too.^^; Just Yaoi.de has been spared until now. *gg*
I have told the ff.de-admins too, I hope she gets kicked as soon as possible... It's just sad that she probably only uses fake accounts for her thefts, or at least at Animexx, since she has no elaborated user's profile there as people usually have.
And no, I don't think that you would have been that happy with her translations since she uses babblefish or whatever other translation machines. The grammar is horrible and the sentences sometimes don't make any sense at all, even some of the titles are just mindless translations!>_< It's probably the worst kind of theft you can imagine...>__> *sigh*
Thanks a lot!=D But I'm always afraid to make lots of grammar mistakes and "false friends"...^^;
And of course you are certainly smart enough to learn to speak other languages fluently, it just depends on your will and the method or learning.=) Homestays or language schools abroad are amongst the best and merriest methods to learn a language, that's for sure!=D

Date: 2006-11-26 03:59 am (UTC)I think I've written one "yaoi" fic in my entire career, so if it's popping up there, something had been lost in translation ^^;;
Thank you very much for doing that on my behalf--I really appreciate it =) It looks like the problem has been taken care of on those sites. But just babelfish-ing it? Gaaaah...if you're going to translate, at least translate, honestly...
I've spoken English for twenty-one years, and I still make grammar mistakes ^^;; But no false friends--we're pretty friendly around here =D
I know bits and pieces of other languages--a few words here and there, and enough Spanish to actually communicate feebly. But I'd love to learn another language. Someday, I shall do it for real! *victory pose*

Date: 2006-11-26 09:32 am (UTC)You're most welcome!^__^ Art or fanfic theft is imho the worst offense against the netiquette, especially if it's done that badly... It's not even flattering anymore, if they use such a bad translation, it's just insulting!>_<
And I don't know if it's babblefish or another program, but I can't believe she did a lot by herself. She translated word for word with the same structure as in the english sentences, and of course that doesn't work in translations, that's why some sentences seemed to be quite normal, but others were completely senseless.
But the worst thing was that she got two brainless fangirl comments for "The View" that she had a wonderful writing style...>__> I pass the compliment over to you, but I'd love to give very bad marks to those girls when it comes to their german grammar knowledge.^^;
Same for me both in german and french... and I'm speaking both languages for 25 years now.^^;
But no false friends--we're pretty friendly around here =D
That's what I notice!^___^ ♥ But I'm not sure if I used the right word to explain what I mean, in our english lessons we call "false friends" the direct translations of our own language (german, french or other languages probably as well) with similar english words, but the meanings are completely different. Like for example:
german: Wann bekomme ich mein Steak? (When do I get my steak?)
english: When do I become my steak?
That has... not exactly the same meaning, hasn't it?^^;
Why don't you have some holidays in a spanish speaking country? And to top that, you go to places where people hardly speak any english, so you are forced to speak spanish? I think that's the best method ever if you want to find your way or if you don't want to starve to death. *gg* Sounds awful, but it works!=D (Or at least it worked for me^^")
By the way... I'm sorry if I'm babbling that much, but I can never stop myself from spamming other people's ljs...u.u;

Date: 2006-11-27 03:13 pm (UTC)You'll have people like that in any language, sadly. But I appreciate the compliment, strange as it seems ^___^
*laugh* I'd never heard that term before! But now that you explain it, it makes sense. Sorry for the misunderstanding--now I'm trying to figure out how one would become a steak. None of the answers are happy or legal =P
I'd love to spend some time in another country. The furthest/farthest I've been was a week I spent in Austria and Germany, and that was wonderful--that's why I know a few words of German. Just picked 'em up as we were running around :) I love to travel, too, so I'd enjoy it. Except the starving part... *laugh*
No problem! I'm enjoying the conversation ^_^

Date: 2006-11-27 04:23 pm (UTC)I'm glad that you had at least one benefit with this plagiarism-thingy!=)
Yeah, the idea is somehow creepy!XD But that's one of the most famous ones we learn in school.^^
Really, you've been in Germany and Austria? Where exactly have you been?=D
I'd love to travel more, but right now I have to care for my own life and budget, and that's not always easy as a student.^^; I seriously hope that I can see my brother in China next year, and one day I'd love to see the US of America, especially the indian summer... *floats happily in her pink and fluffy daydream cloud*
And no, I wouldn't like to starve to death either, especially if there are so many delicious specialties around!=9
By the way, this entry is mean. I'm getting hungry every time I'm looking at it.;__;
