[livejournal.com profile] aishuu and I have been philosophizing on how many fans it takes to make an actual fandom. Any thoughts?

L'anyhoodle, are any of you familiar with [livejournal.com profile] 100fandomhell? This is something [livejournal.com profile] aishuu is doing where you write one hundred stories for one hundred different fandoms. One per fandom. And...providing everything is go...I'm thinking about giving it a shot.

*waits for the bricks to start flying and the smiting to begin*

*crawls out from under table once the projectiles stop flying*

My main concern with this, however, is whether or not I actually KNOW one hundred fandoms. And in this situation, "know" can vary in degree, since I think the requirement is a one-hundred word drabble. Plus, there's a few series that I'm just starting to get into, so a little further down the line I very well could write something nice for it, but at present I'm only on the third volume of the manga (One Piece, Black Cat...I'm lookin' at you)...oh, and various incarnations count as different series. So I could write a Detective Conan fic AND a Magic Kaitou fic, and it's cool. Or Dragonball and Dragonball Z...and don't laugh. Those are my fanfic roots!

So bearing that in mind, I'm going to attempt to make a list! Let's see what happens...

...is it bad that I got sixty fandoms almost exclusively on anime and manga series? And I was really tempted to look at a couple of them in the light of the manga and the anime being different incarnations (see also: Pretear, Magic Knight Rayearth) because they were so different as to almost be alternate universes following the same idea.

I also had a thought: if different incarnations could as different series...I'm a Legend of Zelda fan XD There are THIRTEEN GAMES in that series! *laugh* That's probably cheating, though. And I haven't looked at books or anything like that yet, either.

Still, sixty is a good start, I think! Now the trick would be to actually come up with a story idea for each of these... ~.~;;

Also...my dreams of being ninja, they are crushed and blown in the wind *laugh*

I suppose if you do it, I could too. I don't know. I shouldn't jump into anything when I'm sick and coughing out my lungs. I can be delusional. (:pokes two fic bits that cross TGQ with MK and DC:) Have you tried listing anything from when you were a child?

*pats* Get better first :)

Right now I'm just looking at Ye Olde Anime and Manga, since that's my primary source of fandom. But I'm becoming more and more convinced that I can come up with forty more movies/shows/books/etc. that I know well enough and could piece together at least a one hundred word drabble for.

But right now, I'm tiiiiiired~ X_X

ZELDA!!! \o/
And z-zomg, 60? Psst! Sailormoon has more than one incarnation too. *Not so subtle hint to watch PGSM(Sailormoon live action) dammit*

"aishuu and I have been philosophizing on how many fans it takes to make an actual fandom. Any thoughts?"
One fan is enough, imho. They just need a lot of the "good crack". After all, don't people go "ZOMG I'm not alone?!" in discovering other fans of their fandom?

I always see that icon of yours and it makes me go happy in my heart =D I love the Legend of Zelda games, and I have played almost all of them at least in partial--the exceptions (thus far) being Adventures of Link, Twilight Princess, Four Swords, and Phantom Hourglass (which hasn't come out yet).

I know I need to torrent/watch PGSM so I can add another fandom to my List of Nerd up there. I've seen a little of it, but I want to watch more \o/

That's really what I think. I think if you have one person, you've got a fandom. A very small, lonely fandom...but it's a fandom *victory pose*

Cute!Link is luuurve. ♥
I've yet to finish the first Zeldas (am progressing slowly in Zelda II, but levelling up is tedious.) Twilight Princess is much very twisted love and Four Swords (GC version, GB I had no one to play with D:) is really entertaining and light.
My first Zelda game was Link's Awakening. ♥♥♥

Try Princess Serenity. I know that if I had the RAM/space I'd download all the PGSM eps from there. Last I looked they had all the PGSM eps up for direct download.
*Approves of ambitions.*

I guess the divide comes from one's interpretation of the term "fandom". For some it's a community: thus numbers. For others it's an activity: thus 1 suffices.
Go go lonely fandoms!

My first Zelda game was actually the first one--we have an old NES at home, and back when I was a wee lass (and the Nintendo was still huge), Mom and Dad got my sister and I this game for Christmas called The Legend of Zelda. We played it, forgot about it for a while, then came back and won it. It was pretty awesome. And then I found another game with the same title for Gameboy, called Link's Awakening.

I also have that Gamecube disc with four games on it (Legend of Zelda, Adventures of Link, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask), so after I finish Windwaker, I'll have plenty to keep me occupied!

I'll look at that site when I get home! *cheers*

That gamecube disk is so much love. ♥ *Plots to steal the GC and maybe even the Wii with her in Scotland for the next year... Just missing a TV and plug adapters..; silly brits, not using same plugs as the French. Tss, tss.*

Took me a couple of years to go back and finish Link's Awakening too. (Was my first EVAR game on my game boy, Tetris excluded. Prior games console had Bubble bubble's sequel and Ghosts & Goblins, but the TV kinda imploded.) Took me a while to realize where one had to blow the wall up.

You do so. :D *grins*
*I think I've used all my Zelda icons now, woe.*

I have no Zelda icons *emos*

I went to Game Stop with the express intention of getting that disc, and it made me full of joy to buy it. Forty bucks for that disc = ten bucks a game. JOYS!!

...it's sort of funny, but my sister doesn't generally like most of the stuff I do...but when I mentioned htat I had a disc with four Zelda games, she was way excited about it :D

Sailor Moon...my very first anime *skips down memory lane* It'll be nice to really revisit it =)
