Happy Tuesday, WHEE!!
Sep. 4th, 2007 12:59 pmYes, I am far too chipper.
In regards to my new icon:
twosen mentioned that the mental image for me is a rubber duckie--yellow and happy! So I went and uploaded a rubber duckie icon. I think it's rather cute ~♥
So I am pretty much caught up on comments from the last couple of days--might have a couple more to answer over on
candyfics, but I'll get to those soon enough. But wow, I'd say Lurker Day was a resounding success! I certainly had fun 8D
Yesterday I drove over to hang out with
socchan. I woke up at nine AM, figuring I'd be on the road around ten-ish, which would put me there at noon, or thereabouts. Well, the night before I couldn't sleep, so I'd dozed on the couch from about two to six AM, then crawled into bed. My alarm went off at nine, and I got out of bed and toodled out to the living room...and crashed on the couch again. Next time I opened my eyes, it was ten to eleven. Whoops ^^;;
But a good time was had by all! (I hope... ~_~) We nerded out and played this really, really bizarre-cool game on emulator, and then we went to the pet store (kid you not) while we were waiting for the movie to start. The ferrets were so cute!!
We saw The Simpsons Movie, which was pretty much what I expected. Although as I told
socchan, I am a hopeless music nerd because I hear the opening theme...and automatically think TRITONE! Because that's the song I had beat into my head for that interval *le sigh* MUSIC THEORY HAS RUINED MUSIC FOR ME FOREVEEEEEEEEEER!!!
After dinner at Pizza Ranch (yum~!), we went back to
socchan's house and did more nerding. I now have two more discs full of stuff to look at and watch and read and listen to and generally fangirl over. The spoiling, it makes me a happy Candy-chan :3 I'll get right on that stuff you asked for,
socchan!
Oh, and I learned the basics of Mah Jong. We played one game without scoring (so I don't know that aspect of it), but I got the basics of gameplay. AND I WON, WHOO!! I need to get that game so I can teach other people how to play it. Or maybe I should just bite the bullet and pick up that Mah Jong game I always see at Target ^^;;
I got home at one AM. On the way there, I saw one deer (on the side of the road--it looked at me with its evil, evil eyes), and was passed by one ambulance, and then saw two others on the side of the road. Busy night, huh? Had enough energy when I got home to check my email, take a shower, and crawl into bed for my five or so hours of sleep. Woke up this morning feeling fantastic \o/
Tomorrow I get to learn to do orders so I can get some new music for my choirs. I'm looking at "Music of the Night," from Phantom of the Opera, and this really kick-ass arrangement of "Bridge Over Troubled Water." I've been told that they attempted an arrangement of that previously, but everyone protested. I looked at that arrangement, and...yeah. Not very exciting or interesting. But I think they'll like this one--it's a LOT of fun! And I picked a Latin piece to include a foreign language song. That brings us to five pieces. I'm debating about a sixth one--maybe a spiritual or a sacred work. Then we've got pretty much every genre covered for the first concert ^___^
In the meantime, I think I need to scoot. I have middle school study hall today, which is actually a pretty nice class. I'll probably take them down to the library again, since the choir room has been taken over by keyboards ^^;; They whisper and chit-chat, but they're good kids.
Catch y'all later!

Date: 2007-09-05 12:49 am (UTC)Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is a series all about the meaning of hope and desire, of rising up from your alloted place in life, of recursive belief and lens flares, of things that look cool just working because they should, of robots with sunglasses and fucking furries, of Hissatsu and playing with your rifles, of shonen retards whose power level is actively tied to how shonen retard they are, of foreheads and fatasses, of timeskips that cross destiny and time-space and an awful, awful lot of piercing the heavens.
Yes, folks, this is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, the story of a hick, a hick's younger brother, and a Ho(ko) who go on to pierce every heaven and smash every wall in their way! On the surface, it's a shonen mecha series: at heart, it's a shonen mecha series where EVERYTHING COOL WORKS and EVERY CLICHE IS HIT. A tale of humans striking back against anything and everything that opposes them to win the day, and soar the stars!
SOUNDS GOOD, YOU DO THAT. SOCCHAN LUFFS CANDY ALSO ♥♥♥♥♥
