*looks at icon* That's my handle. I've been using it online for years--five years on ff-dot-net alone, and even longer than that on various other websites. I have been Candyland almost as long as I've been online.

...so is it time for a change? Is Candyland too immature? I mean, I asked a little while ago why so many people thought I was blonde, and it seems like some said it was because of my handle. On the other hand, [livejournal.com profile] ran_mouri82 once told me that I'm the living embodiment of the Land of Candy...which made me smile *glomps* Should I go for something a little more mature, or is this fine?

But I've been Candyland for so long, I wouldn't even know what to change it to if I did decide to change it. And plus, because I've been sticking with the same handle, that's what most people know me as. If I changed it, would anyone be able to find me anymore?

So what does everyone think? I know that in the end, it's my choice. But...I've just been thinking about this for a while. Just wanted to see what other people thought.

Stick with Candy. Besides, how old is the game itself? Much older than your current age...forever!

But you are like candy, you're sweet.

Maybe you need to get an icon of a brunette (or whatever color you are) girl and use it as a secondary icon. Title it "Me!"

The icon I'm using here is a self portrait of me when I had short hair. I need to draw a new one, my hair is halfway down my back now (I haven't had a haircut in a year and 9 omnths!).

Hehe...and here I was thinking of adding to the entry that my name was mislead--Candy implies sweetness, and we all know that I'm a bitch *laugh*

There's an idea...although [livejournal.com profile] kaitodoushi made this plunnie icon for me and says that she thinks it looks sort of like me, at least in the hair color/general style... =P

Wow! I love long hair...I just suck at taking care of it ^^;;

Well, the way you write makes me think you're sweet. Don't disillusion me!

Excellent. Everyone needs a drawn form of themselves. It's a cute and funny icon btw.

Urg. It looks great but I have some of the thickest hair people have seen and it is hot and heavy and takes forever to dry. I miss having short hair. I may not have looked as good but I felt good about it.

I've never changed handle ever since I signed up for my first email account, so I have no idea what it's like to change one, and all I know about people changing handles is that it confuses me no end.

I'd vote stick with Candyland, or shorten it to Candy if you'd rather. You've built your internet identity around it, it's solid, and even if you do change, people are probably going to continue to refer to you as Candy anyway.

And "Candyland" is only ever going to be as immature as you are dear. A name is a name, it doesn't define the person. *Grin* Otherwise it appears you -would- be blond and I'd be male at first glance. Also, it is a very sweet name, I might add, and your personality only reinforces that impression. ♥

As long as you are happy, in the end, that is all that counts.

Where did you come by your handle? I'd never seen it before ^^

I guess I was more thinking about a conversation I had with [livejournal.com profile] aishuu, where she mentioned that her first handle was something really teen-ish, and that got me looking at my handle and thinking, "Candyland...I sound like I'm twelve years old!"

*snuggles you*

( Wait... Candyland is the name of a Board Game? O_o I didn't know that! XD )

[witty tl;dr warning]
People usually seem to assume my handle is a misspelling of Dragon, or the Spanish term. |D; Though I have had someone ask me if it was after some Ninjas in some novel (that I've never read |D;) and commend me for my taste. Was kind of nice. I think Wikipedia also has an article on a Dagron chap who invented some micro-chip for spying purposes.
But the truth is that when I first got an email address, I was a dreamy 14(?) year old girl who liked to think up stories with fairies and dragons, and Dagron was a name I'd come up with for some elf-like character who never got more than two doodles done, but that I had liked.
"Dagron" comes from the simple-ish maths of Dagger + Dragon fused into one word. The Rat bit was added on because my dad thought Dagron would already be taken (it wasn't, but it was on other sites) and so we decided to add something on. Dad often referred to me as a "Ratbag" when I was growing up, so the Rat bit kind of stuck. (It didn't help that I played Rat in a play of Toad of Toad Hall. XD) My sister's handle ends with "Fox" which is a nickname of hers too, I find this amusing. ♥

I guess there are handles that one would rather change (eg: anon1234, iSuck, IRHardCore, main-character-of-a-series-n°115 or something-really-long) but I really don't think Candy's one of them. ^_-

Yup, it's a game. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candyland) One of my friends originally started calling me Candy for my sweet-tooth, and then I decided to expand it and became Candyland. And lo, it has stuck XD

Ooooh, that's cool! *likes your handle*

I knew right from the get-go that I didn't want a fandom-specific handle. Fandoms come and go, and I didn't want anything I would have to change. So...I just stuck with what worked :)

I think you should keep it, for reasons stated below by others. ^^ Or if you want, you could try out different handles on forums or something (do you even visit forums?) and see how you like it. I personally like going in disguise sometimes to forums. XD But I would never change my fanfiction handle. Some people might have trouble finding me, plus maybe they'd even think I wasn't me and that I'd plagerized.

I've made changes to my name before, but I already know this is the one that's going to stick. For one thing none of my previous names has lasted this long. It's me, it's who I am no matter how I change or people see me. It describes the best I think ^^

And yours definitely is you. You have all the wonderful things about candy hidden in you - sweet, sour, scrumdiddlyumptious - you get the idea ^^
You have all these surprises and the point of your name is to remind people you're not just candy - you are.

Going for something more mature just wouldn't suit you anyway.

I'm pretty sure the only reason people think your a blonde because of your name is because every famous person or thing named candy is a blonde. pure guess that shush

It took me a while to find my handle, and even still I have variations.

You know, if you do decide to change it (not saying I think you should), I know the perfect name so people will quit thinking you're blonde. ...Why is that so troubling to you, huh? Ha ha, anyway, you should call yourself imnotblonde. Yup.

I guess my train of thought was more along the lines of, "If someone looks at this, will I look like a twelve-year-old squealing fangirl?" Given how much I'm in fandom, I really don't want that stigma--I'm a twenty-one year old screaming fangirl, thank you very much! ^_~

D'aww, thank you!! *glomps*

Meh, I've changed my handle before, but the old one does stick...people call me Haunty, I'm used to it, and it's a shortening of Hauntress and not, you'll notice, of Hakaisha. Anytime people refer to me as Hakaisha I actually get a bit surprised/unsettled, mainly because no one refers to me as such (except for people who don't know me very well).

So...change or no change, it's up to you, but Candy will probably stick with you regardless of whether you switch or not. ^^;;

Huh...I actually didn't equate you with Hauntress until someone else called you that (might have been Icka, can't remember), and since that seemed to be the nickname everyone else called you by, I just went with it ^^;;

Yeah, I think I'm stuck with Candy 8D For better or worse ~♥
