Things are looking good!
Oct. 18th, 2007 10:03 amWe had a rehearsal in the gym today for the concert with our accompanist on our three more difficult songs. Ran each of them twice. And it went really well! There's always a little bit of bobbling around when you move into a new room and have entirely different acoustics and you're adding the total accompaniment and stuff...but they pulled it off really nicely!
You would not believe how much that fifty-minute rehearsal de-stressed me. Seriously. I still have a couple of things to do and get done before tonight, but...I think it'll be okay.
I'm here at six tonight so we can run through all the pieces with both accompanists, and the show starts at seven. I've learned a great deal from the last two days, so I think the next concert will be a lot smoother in terms of just getting everything done and putting it all together. So I'm feeling a lot better :)
I'm getting some writing done, too--another Friends fic is done, and the tenth fic for
30_evil_deeds is maybe ten minutes worth of work away from being done...AND IT'S NOT CRACK ABOUT GIN'S BLONDE HAIR OF EVIL. I'm trying a new approach for some of these fics, as inspired by
magic_truth in one of her more brilliant moments (...which she has all the time), and so there will be some more serious fics scattered amidst the crack about his hair and whatnot.
And watch, people will go, "WHERE EEZ TEH CRACK, WOMAN?" *laugh*
I did a quick calculation last night regarding my ficcing goals for the remainder of this year. It's a little over two months until Christmas (two months and one week, to be precise), and so I did some figuring. To make my initial goals would be about fourteen fics. And that seems sort of...not challenging. So I set myself a new goal of finishing
30_friends by Christmas as well.
With that, I have twenty-eight fics to write. And my plunnie list has about half those ideas on it. Read "plunnie list" as "scraps of paper and Post-Its where I've scrawled out a half-formed idea and stuck in the back of a notebook or folder." I'm really organized like that.
So my plan for today while I'm here at school is to first get this PO form filled out and drop it off at the office--while I'm there, I need to double-check on what time teachers are here tomorrow for our staff development and work-day. And then I think I'm just going to try and relax for a while by writing or maybe knit a little more.
Yes, I do keep my knitting stuff on hand. Some people meditate, some people read, some people play hopscotch...I knit to relax. When I'm really wound up, I just pull it out and knit a couple of rows, and my breathing returns to normal, and then I can go back to work. Plus, my study hall kids want me to teach them how to do it XD
All right, enough babbling. As always, you can make with the poking/bothering/molesting here. I'm going to get that PO done! ONWARD FOR GREAT JUSTICE!! *strikes a pose*

Date: 2007-10-19 01:45 am (UTC)I remember you mentioned wanting "something like NaNoWriMo, but on a smaller scale/wordcount"? Well, I found one. (Mostly because I have the person organizing it friended, but whatever!) So if your plate's not yet overflowing, it's open for ya.

Date: 2007-10-19 06:04 pm (UTC)Oh well...maybe I will do some knitting/writing while I'm there hanging out. Since it's an all day thing, I figure I can get plenty of work done while I'm relaxing :3 And also hope that people send me prettiful sexy text messages while I'm hanging out there ^______^
