Detective Conan drama continues

Many of you in the Conan fandom are aware that there has been a great deal of tension between magicbulletgirl (henceforth MBG) and Knightus regarding the Conan scans.

This came into the fandom eye a few months back, when Knightus accused MBG of stealing scans. That whole fiasco was outlined and documented (at Knightus' request) by ickaimp on her comprehensive post here back in December. From there, the matter should have been laid to rest. MBG just wanted to be left alone to go about her business and do her own scans. This was made clear.

Unfortunately, she has found herself the victim of escalating harassment by not just Knightus, but his friends and supporters. The harassment has ranged from instant messages and emails to hacking onto her website and sending her threats--both of which happened today and proved to be the last straw.

And it hasn't just been directed at MBG herself--an email was sent to Wagamamako, her translator, trying to convince Waga to stop doing the translations. The argument was made to "let" Miyano keep doing it. It is unclear as to how Waga translating would stop Miyano from translating as well.

In the course of this, MBG has been carefully documenting her side of the story, saving IMs, logs, emails, and IPs. The IP address is particularly interesting in this situation--Knightus posted to her c-box from the same IP address that hacked onto her website this morning.

Additionally, if the IMer who made the threat does post MBG's information anywhere, he could potentially face criminal charges. Internet harassment is a criminal offense, and has been successfully prosecuted. For more information, there is an excellent PDF document on the matter here. I would advise reading it--it's actually quite interesting, and something I personally was not familiar with in legal terms.

Here is the situation as it stands now to my knowledge, based on what I have seen and read.

Whoa...I just read what happened and...Jesus! That's just WRONG. To go harass someone over scans... Dude, so stupid. Granted, I know I'm not really so much in the DC fandom anymore,but still... *offers support*

I call bullshit on LSATs. No actual lawyer-to-be would honestly spend time on the internets quibbling over scans like a little stupid highschool martyr.

*cackles* Reminds me of Law class. we had a debate (it was supposed to last only one day, but it ended up taking three) over internet trolls and such. you know. privacy, etiquette. >DD

I can't believe it's escalated that far. Man, leave that to the people who actually license, write, and draw your fandom! You don't even get PAID to harass others, so why do it?

Just pretty clear this is escalting beyond reasonable limits. Isn't scanslating pretty much on the border of illigal activities anyway? His acting like it was a company just in it for the money not a group of fans just wanting people to enjoy the same thing as they do.
