candyland: (stupid saddens me)

Newest development here. Apologies and pretty words mean nothing if the actions don't back them up. This is ridiculous.

I got a nice letter from my parents yesterday--a hand-written letter! In a world of email, it's sort of nice to get actual mail. Particularly mail that doesn't consist of bills, payments, and credit card offers. And Mom writes it on this stationary set she has, so it's really nice to see a pretty pink envelope amidst all the other crap in my PO box.

We've realized that it's actually fairly easy to get together as things are now--we just have to plan, and pick a day and a location that's in the middle (as we're four hours apart). Last time we met in Des Moines. This time they're suggesting Ames--there's a butterfly garden at ISU that's supposed to be really nice, and Mom suggested a restaurant called Hickory Farms, which I have eaten at before. It's as good as she's heard, I will say ^.~ So I'm going to write back \o/

I have one chapter left on The Red House Mystery. Going to finish that today, and then I've got Phantom of the Opera and The Canterville Ghost lined up. And also The Velveteen Rabbit, which was one of my favorite books as a kid ^___^

I started watching Serial Experiments Lain last night. My general rule is that for an average anime series (many of which are twenty-four or twenty-six episodes), watching the first five episodes or so. If I'm not hooked by then, it gets sort of iffy, though not iron-clad. And this series...I like shows that make me think. This show...I'm four episodes in, and it's so weird and confusing that it's almost putting me off...but I'm so desperate to know what the heck is going on that I want to keep watching. It's a little bit frustrating! But I think I can stick it out for nine more episodes and see what comes of it. Maybe @_@ Thoughts?

Pulled the HELL out of a muscle in the back of my leg last night. I woke up around four AM, rolled around for a few seconds, moved my foot and then suddenly OHMIGOD HURT HURT HURT FLAAAAAIL. It's a weird sensation to be almost screaming and crying...while not totally conscious. I think I tossed around for about five minutes or so before I was finally able to sloooooowly flex and unflex my foot. When I woke up this morning, I rolled out of bed and nearly went on my face. I'm limping a bit when I walk, and stairs are a special challenge. And the muscle protests every time I move my left foot.

XDDDD omg LAIN XDDDD Remember when we where in Fry's? That's the show I had kelly watch the last ep with me... She explained it all O_______O so, yeah, don't ask me XD but I still think as much as it hurts to understand, is still worth the watching, (and that one comic was kickass too~)

I'm a third of the way through it (four episodes watched out of thirteen), and I think I'm going to press on. But I don't think I can stand to watch more than two or three episodes at a time @_@ It makes my head hurt, trying to figure it out. But I'd like to see where it goes.

*GLOMPS YOU* Can't do anything more than glomping because I'm at school and the filter doesn't like stuff ^.~

Yeah, when I watched it I only got 2 eps a day, because my poor brain would die if I did anymore. I didn't like the ending :? but as soon as you get there, let me know what you think. Maybe you'll have a different take.

*is glomp'd* oh, you~

I'd read that it was a thinking series, but if I'd realized it was that much of a thinking series, I would have picked a series to alternate it with. Maybe I'll finally start watching Lucky Star to balance it out...

Given the nature of the series, I'm pretty sure I'll have something to say at the ending. Even if that something is "BWUH?" So I'll let ya know what I think, and we'll see ^_^

Oh me? *gg* Oh me what?

I've had muscle pains like that before but it usually goes away fast (mostly sitting funny at the computer too long) and yeah it's a pain to get around when you can hardly walk cuz of it xP

lol XDD Lucky Star is awesome!!!! but the first few eps might be a bit boring, (wasn't that way to me) but it is FULL of porides(sp) *wish she came with spell check* Konanta = me!!!! X3

Awesome!!! I don't get to talk much about it to anyone...>> Kelly is the only nice one and takes it a little slower for me |D

Stop being so sexy~ X3!!! *puts hand on your shoulder*

I've been told that it's a lot like Azumanga Daioh--which I adore. So I'm hoping that I'll like it. It seems to have a fairly active fandom ^__^

That's one reason I like to watch series that people recommend to me. That way I know I'll have at least one person to discuss it with afterwards.

:O N-nooooo...not while I'm at school! *gg*

Yeah, it's already going away--and I've just been sitting here, writing a reply letter to my parents. But if I move my foot the wrong way, it twinges DX No love for hurting!

Well Azumanga-Daioh is a bit diff. XD I mean they both are 4 panels, which explains the constant cuts in the show, but Lucky Star is making fun of Otakus and friends of otakus (which is why I LOVE IT SO *needs to buy a boxset*) Azumanga was about daily life-ish. So they are the same, yet not??? but don't trust me XD I'm not an expert

lol well I try to get people to watch things, but they never do in the end. So either way, tis just me XD *wishes she wasn't so anti-social so she could make more friends*

TT^TT *takes hand back* you hurt me so~...

True--though I do love Azumanga Daioh ~♥ I guess I'll know when I watch it. I might just watch it to alternate with Lain so my head doesn't have to explode anymore. I don't want my brain to go 'splody...

Well, I have a ton of stuff that you lent me to watch. I'll see if any of those catch my fancy ^__^ *pokes* You could join some LJ communities centered around those series? Easy way to meet people with similar interests :D

...only because I'm at work and can't do that while I'm at work ;o;

lol it would be interesting to see your brain to do that XDDDDDDD

I don't know if they will :/ I haven't quite figured out what you like, and thus lean you towards things you'd like *does that with Jeva* Cuz I watch everything, and not many people do that. *sigh* and joining communites... yeah, not my thing. Those people always make me feel like a dumbass, I don't need any more people than I already have to do that to me.

...stupid work... DX takes all the fun out of everything

It does it frequently ^^;; Sometimes I think my brain LIKES to asplode. But go look at the responses to the bad-fic challenge on [livejournal.com profile] manycases1truth. They did it a LOT.

I'll give just about anything at least a try. No telling what I'll like--there were a couple of things I didn't think I would like that I wound up getting sucked into it. There's no telling.

If you join the comms, you don't even have to post or make frequent comments. You can read about what other people are posting, or comment if something catches your interest. It's just an easy way to interact with people who share your interest in a given series z(^o^)b

Maybe. But it also gives me paycheck. Which allows me to have internet so I can be online with people ^.~

The eeriness of Serial experiments Lain was one of the main interest of the anime, so if you don't like beeing lost and confused, without much clues to solve the jingsaw puzzle dancing in front of you, I don't think you would enjoy it.

(If I remember well, you should wait the ninth episode to have answers for the most obvious questions, and even after that, there is a lots of works to connect the remaining peices, and many questions which remains unanswered after the end so...)

But honestly, it's not more brainbreaky that petite Cosette or Paranoia agent(it tooks me several days and visionning the entire OAV/serie twice to understood it)... Ok, maybe a bit more brainbreaky...But just a bit...XD;

Oh well, just my opinion, and I'm a weirdo who enjoys reading philosophy books so...

Not all writing is that way. That's the reason the challenge was so fun--most of the writers on that comm are incredibly good, so it's doubly funny to see them writing badly on purpose. And it also gave me the excuse to use the words "sin-spear" in a fic without shame!

Oooh! You need to let me know when your grad party is so I can make plans for being there \o/

But...without my job I also have no monies for gas. Which means I can't go visit peoples ;o;

It feels a lot like when I watched Le Portrait de Petite Cossette. The same sense of "Huh?" and wondering what exactly is going on/how this will all be explained. I have every intention of seeing it all the way through. I just might need to alternate watching it with something else in order to keep my brain from exploding ^^;;

I'm sure I'll have something to post on it when I'm done with it. We'll see what I think then! z(^o^)b

Oh...uh...well, thanks, and friends you back.^^

Well, it's a matter of tastes, but well, if it's hard for you to immerse yourself in this anime(oh and I could perfectly understood why), aletrnating with other stuff could be a good idea.
