*sigh* And so it goes...
Feb. 1st, 2008 07:57 amNewest development here. Apologies and pretty words mean nothing if the actions don't back them up. This is ridiculous.
I got a nice letter from my parents yesterday--a hand-written letter! In a world of email, it's sort of nice to get actual mail. Particularly mail that doesn't consist of bills, payments, and credit card offers. And Mom writes it on this stationary set she has, so it's really nice to see a pretty pink envelope amidst all the other crap in my PO box.
We've realized that it's actually fairly easy to get together as things are now--we just have to plan, and pick a day and a location that's in the middle (as we're four hours apart). Last time we met in Des Moines. This time they're suggesting Ames--there's a butterfly garden at ISU that's supposed to be really nice, and Mom suggested a restaurant called Hickory Farms, which I have eaten at before. It's as good as she's heard, I will say ^.~ So I'm going to write back \o/
I have one chapter left on The Red House Mystery. Going to finish that today, and then I've got Phantom of the Opera and The Canterville Ghost lined up. And also The Velveteen Rabbit, which was one of my favorite books as a kid ^___^
I started watching Serial Experiments Lain last night. My general rule is that for an average anime series (many of which are twenty-four or twenty-six episodes), watching the first five episodes or so. If I'm not hooked by then, it gets sort of iffy, though not iron-clad. And this series...I like shows that make me think. This show...I'm four episodes in, and it's so weird and confusing that it's almost putting me off...but I'm so desperate to know what the heck is going on that I want to keep watching. It's a little bit frustrating! But I think I can stick it out for nine more episodes and see what comes of it. Maybe @_@ Thoughts?
Pulled the HELL out of a muscle in the back of my leg last night. I woke up around four AM, rolled around for a few seconds, moved my foot and then suddenly OHMIGOD HURT HURT HURT FLAAAAAIL. It's a weird sensation to be almost screaming and crying...while not totally conscious. I think I tossed around for about five minutes or so before I was finally able to sloooooowly flex and unflex my foot. When I woke up this morning, I rolled out of bed and nearly went on my face. I'm limping a bit when I walk, and stairs are a special challenge. And the muscle protests every time I move my left foot.
