REQUEST FOR RECS! :D

I'm sure some of you are pretty sick of my "ZOMG SNOW DAY" posts. This will probably be the last one for a while. Yes, I am home today. Yes, we had ANOTHER snow day. Phone call came around seven-thirty this morning. I took the call, went and got a drink of juice, and went back to bed. Slept peacefully until about nine-thirty. Feel great. I'm assuming today was because of the roads being bad.

Tomorrow is going to be a very, very interesting day in the classroom. I think our plan is going to be "let's run all the pieces and see how much we remember, since we haven't gotten to actually work on anything in a WEEK." I haven't seen my middle schoolers in a week @_@

And then next week we have two early outs for parent-teacher conferences, probably a mentor meeting, probably a music boosters meeting, and then...no school on Friday leading into a four-day weekend. ILU, JOB.

One of my middle schoolers actually brought me yarn and asked if I would make her a scarf. So I wanted to find a knitting pattern that looks nice, but doesn't take forever to make. I really lucked out, too--it's a nice basket-weave pattern, and somehow the way it's knit makes it go sort of curvy, which looks really cool. I'm having fun making it, and it's going really fast!

Anyway, here's the real reason for this post: some people have been telling me I should check out various series--primarily anime and manga, since that's where my fandom tastes tend to go. Soooo...

RECS!

-Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (Total crack for the first 7 volumes and then badass and plot and SEXY art improvement for the rest~)
-Lovely Complex (Funny shojo manga about a girl who's taller than every other girl in her school and a boy who's shorter than every other boy in their school. It's not gag worthy/sappy either. Just the right amount of lulz and teenage woes/love)
-+Anima (ADORABLENESS ;;b I ended up falling in love with the kids so much. It's about four kids, 3 about 11 and 1 about 16 who travel together to find a place they can really belong. They can turn parts of their body into an animal. On can have ears and wings of a bat, the other wings of a crow, the other a fish tail with scales, and the other with bear claws.)

I just read a translation insert of some Kobato in Newtype USA, but the plot completely eludes me. Can you tell me what it's about?

CLAMP's been kind of weird with the release of Kobato (starting it, then scrapping and restarting it XD) but what I've gotten is that Kobato wants a wish fullfilled. The only way she can do so is if she fills a jar with what looks to be little rock candies, but in fact are people's healed hearts. She's very naive and doesn't know what she's doing but she tries her best to help when she can. Her determination and personality end up healing people even when she doesn't know she is. She's accompanied by what looks to be a blue dog plushie, who makes sure she doesn't screw up too badly. In fact he graded her at first to see if she could HANDLE earth. He's got a huge temper and doesn't mind yelling or breathing fire at her one bit XD; Uh... and atm she's trying to help a kindergarten/preschool out.

It's just... it's adorable! And I like it a lot 8(b I hope I made some sense? |D

The manga insert had Kobato and the dog plushie at a cherry blossom festival, and the dog was testing how well she knew what to do. Then the dog started grading her on a point scale . . . and when a drunken group of people got her to sing karaoke, she did so well that the doggie gave her 95 points or something. ^^* In other words, your explanation managed to put this random section into an understandable context!

Hmmn, sounds like a nice series. Almost like Touched By An Angel with an ultimate goal in the do-gooding.

Then there's also From Eroica with Love (manga), which is both thrilling and especially fun, Last Exile (anime) has a wonderful graphic (though I still need to watch the end too)... I'd love to rec you Vagabond too, but then I don't know if samurai stories are the kind of manga you like.:)
